Responsible SNAP Budget

(Not sure where to put this, but mods can move it.)

Welfare beneficiaries will get half their monthly SNAP benefit for November. Let’s see how, with responsible choices, they can stretch that out. For purposes of this exercise, let’s say it’s a single mother with two little kids, who normally gets $750 a month. So…..how can she stretch the $375 for this month?
Easy, $375 = 104.7 12-Packs of Ramen Noodles @ Walmart, should be able feed a herd for a few months. 🤷‍♂️

You can argue with the board...but you can't argue Google AI.
Hey you got one right $35B/year for ACA.
No work requirements lol! HealthCare for undocumented, nice spin on words. and more.
$1.5T demanded by Schumer....this shut down the GOVT.

What the heck is $1.1T for health benefits........plus the ACA stuff above?

**********
The Democratic proposal that Republicans estimated would cost $1.5 trillion over a decade included several key healthcare and policy provisions:

Key Healthcare Measures
  • Repeal of Health Spending Cuts: The proposal sought to reverse significant cuts to Medicaid and other health programs that Republicans had previously enacted in their "One Big Beautiful Bill Act". This was estimated to be the largest single cost driver, around $1.1 trillion over a decade.
  • Permanent Extension of Enhanced ACA Subsidies: The plan included making permanent the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits (subsidies) that were initially expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic and were set to expire. This measure was estimated to cost approximately $350 billion over a decade.
  • Healthcare for Undocumented Immigrants: Republicans specifically criticized the proposal for restoring "taxpayer-funded free healthcare for illegal aliens".
  • Removal of Work Requirements: The proposal would have removed work requirements for "able-bodied, non-working adults on taxpayer-funded health programs".

Other Policy Measures
  • Limits on Presidential Authority: The proposal aimed to restrict the President's (Donald Trump at the time) ability to unilaterally cancel or delay funds that Congress had previously approved (known as rescissions).
  • Restoration of Funding: It would have restored funding for public broadcasting that Republicans had proposed cutting.
  • Increased Security Funding: The bill included a higher level of funding for security for lawmakers, the executive branch, and the Supreme Court than the Republican proposal.
  • Other "Partisan" Items: Republicans also described a number of other items as "partisan" and extraneous, such as prioritizing electric vehicle access to HOV lanes and resuming DEI projects in foreign countries, to underscore their characterization of the bill as a "wish list".
The $1.5 trillion figure was a total potential deficit impact over ten years as estimated by non-partisan groups like the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB) for the entire package, not a single lump sum for immediate spending in the short-term funding bill itself.
Of course you can argue with Google AI.

a llot of righties seem to have recently discovered it, and used it as a way of avoiding doing actual reading or research.

Others have watched this and noted how easy it is to get AI to feed you the response you want to hear if you structure the parameters just the right way.

Garbage in, garbage out.

And the Challenger was designed to go to space, doesn’t mean something didn’t got wrong

So maybe we should discuss what’s happening and happened instead of what our intent was
One thing we should discuss is how the system allows fathers to avoid any financial responsibilities for the children they created, while taxpayers give as much as $1,000 PER MONTH and more to the mothers to feed them.

Well in my state, first a parent needs to file for support

If the deadbeat parent (and I’ve seen both sex) won’t or can’t pay the state will cover the cost, then the deadbeat owed that obligation back to the state and simply can be jailed for not paying

I suppose we could do that federally too

I like that.

Here, the single mothers can decide whether to go after the baby daddies for support OR just get the government to fork over. They of course choose the easier path.

Multi millionaire, rape star, drivers to get his SNAP in a limo

Maybe that 12% could make better choices. The fact of the matter is most people end up where they are in life due to their own life choices, good or bad. Few people are victims of circumstance and even in those cases, that's not always a defeat.

If you have lots of kids, you can even get food stamps on a $60,000 salary.

The obvious question is: why did you keep having kids knowing you can’t afford to support them?

For purposes of this exercise, let’s say it’s a single mother with two little kids, who normally gets $750 a month. So…..how can she stretch the $375 for this month?

1) Four packages of chicken (16 main meals) at $35
2) Two pounds of ground beef (8 mains) @ $15
3) Box of spaghetti and sauce (4 mains) @ $5
4) 3 bags of frozen veggies @ $10
5j 10 cans of fruit @ $15

All dinners: $80 total

1) 2 Dozen eggs @ $8
2) Two boxes cereal @ $5
3) Juice carton @$4 (mix with water to stretch it out)
4) 3 gallon of milks (not sure, let’s say $10)
5) Package of cheese @ $3
6) Two loafs of bread $8

All breakfasts: $40

Kids get free lunches, so for Mom only (and weekends for kids)

1) Five tuna cans @ $10
2) Another loaf of bread @ $4
3) mayo @ $3
4) packages of sliced Turkey and bologna @ $10
5) apples, bananas, whatever, let’s say another $15

Lunches: $42

All basic meals: $162

Add in another $40 for pudding snacks, jello, bags of chips, etc., etc.

Still comes in around $200 for a basic “charity” diet for November.

**** em all if I was to be laid off tomorrow and tried to apply for SNAP they would say I made too much going of last year's taxes. I pay 40-50k a year in taxes, if I can't get food stamps they can't either

If only they had chosen not to be born poor amirite!
Rulers Need to Be Hit with Their Own Stick

The "poor" you are referring to don't even try to get off welfare, which doesn't take any great effort. The Preppy Progressives emphasize that kind of poor so the non-dependent working poor will suffer Guilt by Association if they resent working hard for low wages.
