In the interest of accuracy I don't speak for other posters. I speak for myself. And yes, when you use a credit card, it is essentially the same as spending cash for whatever it is you are buying.

Only dishonest people try to twist that into something else, especially by taking it out of context.
SNAP cards can’t be used cater blanche. SNAP limits what you can buy, and won’t let you buy non food items.

So, it is not quite the same as spending cash.

You can argue with the board...but you can't argue Google AI.
Hey you got one right $35B/year for ACA.
No work requirements lol! HealthCare for undocumented, nice spin on words. and more.
$1.5T demanded by Schumer....this shut down the GOVT.

What the heck is $1.1T for health benefits........plus the ACA stuff above?

**********
The Democratic proposal that Republicans estimated would cost $1.5 trillion over a decade included several key healthcare and policy provisions:

Key Healthcare Measures
  • Repeal of Health Spending Cuts: The proposal sought to reverse significant cuts to Medicaid and other health programs that Republicans had previously enacted in their "One Big Beautiful Bill Act". This was estimated to be the largest single cost driver, around $1.1 trillion over a decade.
  • Permanent Extension of Enhanced ACA Subsidies: The plan included making permanent the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits (subsidies) that were initially expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic and were set to expire. This measure was estimated to cost approximately $350 billion over a decade.
  • Healthcare for Undocumented Immigrants: Republicans specifically criticized the proposal for restoring "taxpayer-funded free healthcare for illegal aliens".
  • Removal of Work Requirements: The proposal would have removed work requirements for "able-bodied, non-working adults on taxpayer-funded health programs".

Other Policy Measures
  • Limits on Presidential Authority: The proposal aimed to restrict the President's (Donald Trump at the time) ability to unilaterally cancel or delay funds that Congress had previously approved (known as rescissions).
  • Restoration of Funding: It would have restored funding for public broadcasting that Republicans had proposed cutting.
  • Increased Security Funding: The bill included a higher level of funding for security for lawmakers, the executive branch, and the Supreme Court than the Republican proposal.
  • Other "Partisan" Items: Republicans also described a number of other items as "partisan" and extraneous, such as prioritizing electric vehicle access to HOV lanes and resuming DEI projects in foreign countries, to underscore their characterization of the bill as a "wish list".
The $1.5 trillion figure was a total potential deficit impact over ten years as estimated by non-partisan groups like the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB) for the entire package, not a single lump sum for immediate spending in the short-term funding bill itself.

Hunger is a great incentive to work. I've always said that the MAXIMUM welfare benefit including SNAP, section eight housing and everything else should be a dollar less than the net minimum wage salary for 160 hours of work.
Child poverty as a public policy.

Oh well, 'Murica.

What a crock

Snap beneficiaries are not routinely buying lobster you dick

They buy fish, shrimp, and the like and people like you see that “seafood” item and claim falsely that they are buying lobster

Dishonest
Yeah we get it

Welfare bums are responsible, hardworking people who make intelligent choices in their lives

Thats why they are on the dole

$350B over ten years. (NOT 1.5 trillion)
Yep. That's what your cult is demanding - make the subsidies permanent, not just a one year extension
That’s 35 Billion

Less than Trump wants to give Argentina
And they are demanding over one trillion in other spending for repealing the reforms passed in the BBB.

Have you really not paid any attention to what your cult is demanding?

Here is their proposed bill

Put little to nothing in but take full benefits out is the lib loon philosophy

For those who can read I did not say that EBT (SNAP) cards can be used for anything. I did qualify the limitations on them. But for what they can be used for, using an EBT card is essentially the same as using a credit card and that is essentially the same as spending cash. The only difference is that EBT card users won't get a bill at the end of the month like regular credit card users do.

However what you can buy with those EBT cards is pretty broad and in most states does include a lot of junk food:

The ACA extension is not the anove. And THAT is the hurdle that is shutting down the government
That's a lie
The Democrats demand the GOP cave in to adding $1.5T to the debt, , including extending covid-era ACA subsidies, repealing some of the BBB spending cuts, including the cuts to NPR and USAID, and accept legal restrictions on what the President can do with government employees and funds.

Anyone telling you the shutdown is due to the GOP knows they are lying to you.

Why should they be buying shrimp as well? It’s suppose to be supplemental

Heck, 7-11 accepts it now, that’s unacceptable
They’re also in bars, buying booze. I guess they can afford it what with other people paying for their food.

Yup. The way it’s set up now, there is a disincentive to work.
That is absolutely false.

SNAP is designed primarily to provide assistance to people in situations where they actually need assistance.

It is intended to help people who, for one reason or another, who aren’t making enough income. The long term unemployed, the disabled, single parents working at low wage jobs.

Indeed, programs like SNAP are actually subsidies to prop up the low wages of many employers.

Wal Mart used to conduct seminars to teach people about these programs and show them how to qualify. They weren’t the only ones.

Why should I? I was responsible and didn’t have children I couldn’t afford, and went to college to prepare for a career.
You chose to not suck money out of others pockets!

And the Challenger was designed to go to space, doesn’t mean something didn’t got wrong

So maybe we should discuss what’s happening and happened instead of what our intent was

Nope. They get so much in welfare that they choose not to work. We need to cut it down to the basics. It is RIDICULOUS that non-working mothers are getting $1100 in food stamps a month - while the daddies give nothing - while responsible, contributing working-class people watch their nickels and bypass expensive items.
