Republican senators block extension to ACA subsidies

Today Republicans blocked the extension of subsidies to help people pay for health care premiums.

The party with majorities in every branch of government continues to fight against affordability:
Unless Repubs succeed with their extreme gerrymandering scheme, methinks they are going to get creamed in the midterms, this one being the big issue for millions of po' folks.

Fantastic, F all you corrupt money scamming Dem scum! This is a Dem SCAM temporary measure crammed through under the cover of Covid and half dead Biden regime that Dem assholes are now trying to make permanent.
Meanwhile, the very rich get record tax cuts, and the military gets a trillion-dollar budget for the next year. Republicans have f-d themselves.

More people could afford private insurance than can now afford unsubsidized Obamacare. We should go back to that.

Key ACA tax credits likely to expire after House speaker blocks vote

Key tax credits that reduce the cost of Affordable Care Act health insurance coverage for millions of Americans looked likely to expire by the end of the year after House Speaker Mike Johnson said Tuesday that there would be no vote on extending those subsidies this week.

The House is not in session next week, meaning that Johnson was not leaving the door open for a later vote before the boosted ACA premium assistance expires.

There remains a chance that enough Republicans in Johnson’s majority caucus agree to back a Democrat-led effort to force an effective vote on extending the tax credits for Obamacare health plans.

The tactic, a discharge petition, is identical to one recently used to force a vote on a bill compelling the release by the Department of Justice of investigative files related to sex predator Jeffrey Epstein.

Mike is no doubt doing Don's bidding. The guy who's been promising an ACA replacement for almost a decade.
When it expires we will have a replacement. It's called the FREE MARKET, komrade.

So? That’s only because OTHER PEOPLE paid for their insurance. You libs are brain-dead

If we’re handing out taxpayer money, Trump is right: just give it directly to the citizen and let him buy his own insurance plan. This bit about direct hand-offs to insurance companies is just enabling them to keep raising their prices, since the government will keep paying the premiums.

Or, as I pointed out above, when you pay their premiums for them.
I've seen an idea floated to organize small-employer groups that can negotiate lower rates like larger employers do and like we were led to believe the gov't would do with the ACA. The gov't didn't do anything but collude with the insurance companies to steal more taxpayer $$$$. The ACA needs to go away---TOTALLY.

That’s called the Affordable Care Act, it’s been around for years.
You really show how ignorant liberals are. The difference is that Trump wants to give the money directly to the citizen to let him buy the insurance plan, instead of what Obama devised - just hand it directly to the insurance company, who can raise prices as much as they want since the govt pays the premium.

Are you really so stupid as to not understand the difference? If so, you’re too ignorant for me to waste my time on.

The money does go to the citizen, they get it back when they file their taxes and prove they bought insurance the previous year. Of course, they also have the option of getting their money as an advance and applying it directly at the point of sale when they buy a plan.

Trump is proposing to eliminate an option people find convenient, nothing more.

I also think that Medicaid people should have to pay a co-pay of $50 every time they show up in the ER. And then, if it’s not an emergency, they are sent by taxi to an Urgent Care place.

If Obamacare made me pay $6,000 to go to the ER (that’s the deductible), then people on the dole should have to pay at least $50.

Sorry stupid, you are lying.

Engvall uses the "Here's your sign".

Foxworthy uses "If you do "X", you might be a redneck.

You are welcome for this education, Simp.

Nostra,..... You know Nothing about me, & Yet here You are accusing me of being a Liar, just like some spoiled rotten, 3rd Grade Bully, who has "Shit for Brains", and has nothing more to do, than start an Argument over Jeff Foxworthy. LMAO!

Sorry that >>>You Missed one of the Team's best shows,<<< & I gotta recommend that You get an Industrial Sized enema, applied with a pressure washer. Actually,... In Your Case, It more than likely will take several applications.

Because Democrats, and their useful idiots, lie, the facts here must be repeated:

The GOP will not extend the Covid-era subsidy increases put in place in 2020 as an emergency measure to help people through the pandemic.

The pandemic is over. The emergency is over.

Democrats, as they always do, want to make these temporary measured permanent, and are more than happy to lie about it as a means to do so.

What is it exactly that the Democrats are “lying “about? Who made which false statement? Schumer? AOC? Explain.

Why did Dimwingers make them temporary, and put the sunset clause in?
