Thus, there was no compromise with the GOP, and Obama didn't have to settle for anything.

The healthcare industry is not “destroyed”. Not even close.

There are a lot of reasons why healthcare costs a lot of money.

People aren’t very healthy
The medical industry is better at extending the lives of people with chronic conditions
New drugs are effective and expensive
The country is getting older
The labor force for medical providers is tighter than it could be

Lots of reasons, and very little to do with politics.

We aren’t addressing healthcare costs much in this country, for various reasons. All we do is argue about how it’s paid.
