Replacing Teachers

My toughest year teaching was my last one at age 30, because I knew I wanted to get out and make money. I wanted to be like Donald Trump. I had just read "The Art of the Deal", and I was extremely impatient to start. Today, I would be a much better teacher because I did the other thing and now know something about life and how things really work. I was less political then. Today, the subject matter would be less important than the life lessons I would impart. The challenge today would be to overcome the web of leftism in the schools and get my message across.

This is supposed to be an "educator".

Is there something about that picture that would make someone assume the woman is not an educator?
Or is it because of who she is? I don’t recognize her face.
Yes, there is something about that woman who claims to be an educator. She's a commie activist that cares zero about education.

AI will absolutely replace teachers. Teachers cost way too much and can't be as good as AI.

first lady Melania Trump walked side by side with an artificial-intelligence-powered robot before spelling out a vision of the future in which children are taught by a “humanoid educator.”

having a deep understanding of every major subject, including classical studies

would “provide a personalized experience adoptive to the needs of each student.”

“Plato is always patient and always available. Predictably, our children will develop deep, critical thinking and independent reasoning abilities.”

Plato’s introduction to the world would lead to a “more well-rounded lifestyle for our children.”

These are all things we don't get from humanoid teachers

For once I agree with the Trump's. Most humans are lousy teachers. In an entire high school maybe there are 5 good teachers? And one might be good at coaching and inspiring but they aren't that bright so how smart are the kids going to get? This AI robot is smarter than Einstein.

Who do you want teaching your kids Unkotare or a robot as smart as Einstein?

AI can not replace teachers. So much of classroom management is about making authentic relationships with students. A seen student is more receptive to instruction and a robot isn't going to empathize well.

Impossible. Would you say a calculator is good at math?
AI calculates a google times faster than you. You don’t even know what a Google is. I’ll give you a minute to ask your calculator. Lol

And? Do your job. Why you expect parents to do your job for you?

Schools are increasingly adopting no-homework policies, particularly in elementary grades, to promote educational equity, reduce student stress, and allow more family time. This trend aims to level the playing field for students lacking home support or resources, focusing on in-school engagement rather than out-of-school assignments.

That fad has passed.
The no-homework practice reflects a few ideas. One is that the classroom should be flipped. Students hear new material on their own and the classroom allows for guided practice.

Another is the understanding that AI makes work assigned at home inherently suspect.

I'm okay with a small amount of homework. But teachers have gotten out of control. And many of them don't even look at the work that's turned in. You did it? Cool. Throw it in the trash.

I don't recall ever learning anything in school. Like now I see things about science or space and I'm blown away. Neal Degras Tyson type stuff. Where was that in school?

I'm terrible at math. Barely got through math in college. I'm sure an AI teacher would do better than my teachers did. They'd be able to go back to the point where I stop getting it and explain.
