Peter was married- if he was the first pope why cant priests be married in the RCC?

He had been married. But it is likely that he was a widower. You cannot serve two masters.

There were married priests for over a thousand years after Christ. One reason the rule was settled upon is because of all the disputes that arose upon the death of a priest: What belonged to the Church and what belonged to the family. Also, priests were expected to devote so much time to the people and their calling.

Still, there had always been celibate priests from the time of Christ and Paul because of their views on the matter. Some priests followed this example, and some did not. Even after the rule was official (1132) some priests continued to have wives--called them housekeepers.

Life long Celibacy is an apostate doctrine.

1 Corinthians 11:11

11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

Genesis 2:24

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

A priest with a family costs ten times as much to support and can only devote one third as much time to his job.

Those are just estimates.

LOL! Just divorced because he was never around. No, he was happily married. Popes don't go back to Peter. After the Church at Rome imprisoned John, the church their fell into apostasy. No more apostles and prophets. Just rogue bishops of Rome and other places. The changed the doctrine of Christ and perverted everything from the priesthood to baptism by baptizing infants who were sinless. Then came the torcher chambers and magicians.

LOL!!! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has mostly a lay ministry where ministers (bishops) have full-time jobs, families and their callings and manage just fine. As where the Catholic Priesthood gives them time to go to the pubs and get drunk...

There is no evidence that Peter's wife was alive when Christ chose him and changed his name from Simon to Peter.

Your anti-Catholocism is duly noted, however.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” MT 19:14 (NIV)

There is no evidence that suggests Peter's wife wasn't dead. Prove it. Peter means little rock of revelation as Jesus is the big rock of revelation where revelation comes from. Peter was the chief apostle or better known as the Prophet of God at the time.
Yes, Jesus said do not hinder the children or in other words don't baptize the thinking they won't make it to heaven if you don't baptize them. He also told us to become as little children (sinless and obedient) to be able to be baptized and enter the Kingdom of God. Baptism is for the remission of sins. Little children cannot sin until a certain age of accountability. That's when they can understand better the consequences of breaking commandments and covenants they make at baptism. That's about the age of 8.

Yes he was married, its Gods arrangement for mortals. The religions that will not allow clergy to be married throw God away for unbiblical reasonings. Most likely it would have saved alot of paedophilia from occurring if they were married.
All who look good at the religion that came out of Rome can clearly see, they do not know God or Jesus. Their own translating expose them as false religion--none of her branches have fixed much either. Jesus was NEVER with that religion, and everyone knows what the bible teaches-- A good tree produces good fruit, a rotten tree produces rotten fruit= 33,999 trinity religions= a house divided they will not stand. the real cult to Gods view.

No, the proposition is that Peter was married. It is up to you or others to show that his wife was still alive when Jesus selected him and change his name from Simon to Peter.

Nothing in the NT suggests against infant Baptism. Baptism washes away Original Sin. Nothing suggests your magical age of 8.

Nope! You are the one claiming Peter's wife was dead before his name change. Prove it or don't make claims and say they are true. You can have opinions about it but to say they are facts is something you will have to prove. Good luck at it.

Well, that was mostly a bunch of crap. You obviously are unlearned about pedophilia. If you would do some education of yourself on the subject you will find most pedophiles are quite married and heterosexual as well. Those sick Catholic Priests gain their position so they can violate the children. Same as with your JW leaders who have done the same thing. All organization whether religious or non-religious that have close contact with children have the same issues of people infiltrating and assaulting children. Pull that mote out of your own eye.
You are the one that doesn't know God and Jesus. The last time I looked, those 33,999 trinity (believing in a Godhead of 3) are united about this. It's the JW's and Muslims that seem to be on the other side a division. It's your tree that is producing rotten fruit that will die at the judgement seat of God. Actually, most JW's I know are great people and I get along with them just fine.

You are correct about baptism. One must dedicate their lives to God forever in their heart. Baptism is the symbol of that. An 8 year old doesnt have a clue--Jesus was 30 when he got baptized. Isnt he our example to follow his footsteps as best as we can?

I believe one thinking they are serving God and have a marriage mate wouldnt even consider paedophilia. Not in all cases most assuredly, but in most i would say.

Maybe you missed the facts of true God worship history--undeniable facts= From Moses on up until this very day, the Israelite religion while serving the true God, teach, serve and worship a single being God-YHWH(Jehovah) thus while Jesus attended, he was taught, served and worshipped that God as was every bible writer-- How do you get by these facts?
Translation errors are misleading the majority.

When an angel opened the prison gates for St. Paul the jailer had his entire family /household baptized.

People who aren't baptized die with the stain of Original Sin on them.
