Palin Pushing Obama Aside Again

Not only is Palin's response to Obama's health care speech a far more succinct and powerful arguement for why Obama and his Democrats are wrong on this issue - but she once again threatens to push Obama aside on the news cycle. Obama gives a national speech that results in little more than a collective shrug from the electorate. Palin responds via Facebook, and the Internet and news outlets carry her every word, which are then blogged and forwarded repeatedly.

The near-snide remarks by Obama are swept aside by Palin, and then the president's overly generalized assertions and childish belief that government can fix all our healthcare ills are put to task. Last night's speech by Obama was as much a response to Sarah Palin as an attempt to convince the American public of Obamacare - clearly showing the influence Mrs. Palin is having on the national debate.

Perhaps the most effective part of Palin's response were the final two paragraphs. She is absolutely correct in reminding the public that Obama's easy liberal applause line against the costs of war in Iraq and Afghanistan just 48 hours prior to another 9-11 anniversary was a discredit to the trauma of that day, and the continued work by our men and women in the armed services for the cause of freedom and the defense of America...

Finally, President Obama delivered an offhand applause line tonight about the cost of the War on Terror. As we approach the anniversary of the September 11th attacks and honor those who died that day and those who have died since in the War on Terror, in order to secure our freedoms, we need to remember their sacrifices and not demonize them as having had too high a price tag.

Remember, Mr. President, elected officials work for the people. Forcing a conclusion in order to claim a “victory” is not healthy for our country. We hear you say government isn’t always the answer; now hear us — that’s what we’ve been saying all along.

- Sarah Palin

Succinct? How about monosyllabic, inarticulate, reactionary, foreshortened, ignorant.

How is fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan securing our freedoms? It isn't.

How were the demonized? Oh, they weren't. The war in Iraq itself is perceived as unnecessary and a waste of American lives. Way to support the troops! By sending them off to die unnecessarily.

If there are a lot of people really respect and admire Sarah Palin, then this world is in deep trouble. If there are only a few, then perhaps the human race will survive for millennia...maybe.

What then of Afghanistan? Iraq deployments are winding down, just as Afghanistan deployments are increasing - and this was the war initiated as a direct response to 9-11.

Do you support our troops in Afghanistan? Do you support Obama's increasing of troops in Afghanistan?

Yes or no pard...

Note how that poster danced around the issue of Afghanistan. I believe they oppose the war in Afghanistan, but lack the courage to come out and say it as that would be in direct opposition to Obama's policy - and for some reason, libs just don't want to go there openly - yet...

*facepalm*

Really? Out of touch with Reality? Where was the nuclear holocast that Saddam was going to start? Oh wait he didn't have weapons of mass destruction.

See if anyone is out of touch with reality, its the Republican party. Now I want bipartisanship, but frankly republican leaders are just trying to kill this plan and kill everything democrats try to do. You know who suffers? the American people.

We need to stop having useless wars, we need to stop having insurance companies keep raising prices to the point that decent hard-working americans can't afford health care. And for Republicans to be against this, you are the party who are killing Americans.

Ummm, specifically, what freedoms have been secured by the deaths of over 2,000 of our soldiers?

I hate responding to daily kos koolaid.

You might want to check who actually said that Iraq was an imminent threat. You might be surprised.

Then you might want to look up who went to the ME in 2002 and broadcast that Bush was going to attack Hussein. Then ask yourself what happened to the WMD stockpiles.

Then you talk about bi-partisanship but you can't seem to stop whining about the GOP.

Get this, the dems have all the votes they need. They can ram through whatever they want without GOP approval. What is stopping them? Democrats who can actually see through Obama;s lies.

We can get to Afghanistan in a minute. First, answer my question. You are all for sending my brother to Iraq to "secure our freedoms". I want to know which ones were secured?

I support the troops wherever they are, because they are human beings just like you and me. I'm a veteran. Are you?

I don't support Obama increasing the numbers of service people in Afghanistan.

Where's the dance?

You know whose out of touch with reality? Sarah Palin. Why do I think that? Because she says things like the remark she made about 'death panels'. She probably thinks liberals hate the military. So do, probably, you.

Thank you for the more direct response - you oppose Obama's policy in Afghanistan.

BUT - you support the troops, so for Obama to make a rather snide remark regarding the wars in Iraq AND Afghanistan....is that appropriate, particularly when those remarks were 48 hours away from 9-11?

I am not a veteran - my brother was....RIP

That makes sense. Hussein had WMDs but got rid of them because of imminent invasion.

What lies? Can you show me Obama's lies? I'm not a Democrat, and I didn't blindly vote for Obama cause he's cool, or because everyone else was, or any other stupid reason you might imagine. I voted for Obama because: he's not a money-grubbing, selfish, fearful, imperialistic Republican who believes our country can do no wrong.

He's actually attempting to help middle class, average, everyday, working American families.

The reason bipartisanship isn't happening is BECAUSE of the GOP and they're slander against the POTUS, accusing him of such ridiculous claims as: that he's not a US citizen, not a Christian, that he's a Marxist, or socialist or communist. That he's a Chicago thug. That he's a liar. I don't think Bush lied, I think he was lied to. Bush was just a gullible idiot and wanted to believe there was a reason to finish Daddy's business.

I didn't perceive the remarks as snide, but rather as pointed that our service men and women shouldn't unnecessarily be put into danger but should only be put at risk to defend the Constitution, because that's the oath they took. The oath isn't to defend the citizens of the US, or its politicians, or US interests, or even its borders. The oath is "to defend the Consititution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic". Now you and I may have differences in how we interpret the Constitution, but Afghanistan and Iraq are not and were not threats to the Constitution. The Patriot Act was the only threat to the Constitution. We should've attacked those who wrote it and supported it.

No he is not - the Democrats need the poor to stay poor - and convince the middle class they are poor or always in danger of being so...

So just to be clear - you have ALWAYS opposed the War in Afghanistan?

If so, how can you say Obama is "trying to help the middle class" - this war you oppose is costing money and lives - MORE money and MORE lives since Obama became president - and he is intent on spending yet more money and therefor more lives to try and secure some degree of victory.

How can you then support Obama at all?

Hey stupid, you do realize the the congress(democratically controlled) approved going to war with Iraq. So don' ttry blaming the GOP.

In September and October 2002, the Senate and the House voted on the
Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution (Public Law 107-243) after President Bush reluctantly sought a specific authorization for the Iraq War from Congress. The legislative authority is preceded in the Resolution by a 24-paragraph preamble that states some of the reasons why Congress thought that the use of force against Iraq was justified. Those reasons went beyond the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. They cited, for example, Iraq’s support for international terrorism, Iraq’s repression of its civilian population, the Iraqi attempt to assassinate former President Bush, Iraqi involvement in the events of 9/11, and the need for regime change and the promotion of democratic government in Iraq. The preamble doesn’t have the force of law, but it does make it difficult for the US Congress to hide behind the weapons-of-mass-destruction issue in the face of growing criticism about the conduct of the War in Iraq.
