Ukraine prepared or did the help it recieved prepare it to sustain for the long haul, and for how long ?
Tell that to Putin a former KGB chief during the Soviet empire(?), otherwise a citizen soldier who has watched his once powerful empire crumble due to western influence over the year's ???
Ukraine trained and prepared. It went from a Soviet-style conscript force to a western-style volunteer force and trained the hell out of it.
Your stance here is a bit exaggerated. But in any case, this is not true anymore now. Ukrainian army is full of unmotivated soldiers having been forcibly drafted under the terms of the martial law. They barely get any meaningful training in a month-long boot camp. The level of desertion is exceptionally high.

It was when the war started. I doubt that five percent of that force are still alive.
Probably more than that are gone. I think Zelensky was tough about anyone turning tail and running, and so he initiated Soviet style recruiting tactics in order to force civilians too fight and better yet fight to their death's or rather stay in the fight no matter what it takes if they have too.
There is always a hard core of survivors who just can’t be killed. The survivors of the volunteer army fall into that catagory,
