Sarah Palin saved the hapless McCain was a 50 state schlonging.

Best thing that ever happened to him.

Kept McCain's results in 2008 "respectable" even though Obama did take his cheeks pretty badly, particularly among black voters. It would have been a lot worse if not for Sarah.

I've talked to people who specifically said they didn't vote for McCain because of Palin.

NOw, to be absolutely fair, Palin didn't really clown herself until AFTER she and McCain were defeated.

But it was pretty clear that she was a bad pick.

A lot of conservatives wouldn't have voted for McCain if he didn't pick a conservative to balance the ticket. Remember that McCain spent a quarter century kissing liberal behind- even though it didn't mean squat as the libs still didn't vote for him in 2008.

McCain was attacked by libs as someone who walked out on his 1st Old Lady and was a virtual Hitler.

I think that your lib friends are pulling one on you, they really were never going to vote for McCain.

I certainly wouldn't vote for a marxist like B. Hussein O, but abstaining from voting for either would be what a lot of people would do, and a lot of people actually did do in 2008.

And BTW, they were right.

McCain ended up backing the Obamacare Atrocity when it counted. Although I'm uncertain whether it was due to his leftist ideology or whether or not he said "no" to Trumpcare out of spite alone.

Except 2008 had record turnout of 62%. (or that was the record until 2020, when it hit 66%) .

So there's no real argument that lack of voter enthusiasm stopped Obama.

The reason why Obama won was that Bush got us into two unnecessary wars and wrecked the economy.

I called Trump's pick of JD Vance as being reminiscent of McCain's pick of Sarah Palin. The picks' possessing superficial similarities of representing rural America aside, I am astounded how many media talking heads missed this. I guess this happens when the media listens to and speaks to itself.
