20,000 rounds per day is 6,000,000 in 10 months. That's got to have eaten into the old Soviet-era ammunition stockpile. Not only that, 30-year old fuses have a high failure rate, possibly as high as 70%. All artillery barrels have a limited lifetime and need to be re-lined after firing a certain number of shells, which is a problem for the Moscow as (I have been told) the 2014 sanctions included the kind of specialist steel alloys needed to construct artillery barrels and liners. If the barrel isn't re-lined then accuracy gradually degrades, leading to a vicious circle of needing more shells to hit a given target, which increases barrel wear - rinse and repeat. Plus the likelihood of a catastrophic barrel or breech failure increases, which will likely kill all the gunners. The Ukrainians have not only been HIMARSing Moscow ammunition dumps (over 50 last time I checked), they've been capturing them when the Moscow retreat, with other words, Muscovy is BADLY F@CKED !

Intensive artillery fire not only causes diminishing of stockpiles, but also significantly reduces an artillery system's work resource. So, maybe the Russians have to abandon their fire wall tactic, at least for now.

Except of that, too much fire power is concentrated around Soledar and Bakhmut.

Doesn't it reduce the adversary's manpower? Isn't it what artillery was built for? To shoot the shit out of hohols?

It does, but that isn't the main question here. The main question is how many shells and operational artillery systems Russia really has at their command.

Remember how the Rolls-Royce doesn't say how much HP their engines have? They just humbly say "it's enough."

Maybe, the time will show. At least the Rolls Royce can be trusted after the years in business. The Putin's regime, not so much.
