The US has a review process about giving out aid, and we expect metrics to be provided to show that recipient countries are meeting those targets as they get the aid in regular smaller payments and not in one big lump sum which would essentially eliminate our leverage. That's one of the reasons that the State Dept. has people who routinely stay in contact with our ambassadors to make sure the countries are in compliance with the terms and conditions that they previously agreed to prior to getting approval for the aid.

I admit that both Biden and Trump did the same with Ukraine. The hypocrisy is that the Left only gets upset when Trump does it yet defends and justifies it to the hilt when Biden does it.

Biden and Trump did NOT do the same thing, and the motives for each were entirely different. Biden's motive was to further official US foreign policy goals which did not benefit him directly other than to fulfill his appointed task as he understood it.

In contrast, Trump was wholly motivated by his personal interest of increasing the likelihood of a successful reelection campaign without regard to what was in the best interests of Ukraine.

U.S. policy at the time was to get rid of a corrupt prosecutor who wouldn't prosecute oligarchs and other high profile people. Biden effectively got him removed in accordance with with Obama Administration. There was no active investigation into Burisma at that time and Biden had nothing to gain personally. Biden did that for the U.S.

That's different from Trump who solicited a foreign national to look for dirt on a political rival of his. That would have been a personal gain for Trump whose campaign would have benefitted by having Biden under investigation. Trump did that for Trump.

Trump does everything for Trump.
