The evidence against capital punishment piles up.
this young man was convicted on the evidence of one of the killers. Now he has withdrawn his testimony.
And yet the state is preparing to execute this man.
Im sure this isnt the first time a young black man with mental health issues has been murdered by the state.
There is now a substantial doubt over his guilt. The execution should be stopped.

As a rule, courts don't usually overturn verdicts based on recanted testimony.

You ignore that his girlfriend testified that he confessed his guilt to her

Jilted Ex-Girlfriend is hardly a solid witness.

Here's what you don't have.

you don't have a weapon
you don't have DNA
you don't have any witnesses putting him at the crime scene.
You don't have video of him at the crime scene.

you have an accomplice, who now says it was someone else, and a jilted ex-girlfriend.

I'm not saying let the guy out. But there's enough evidence here to commute the death sentence, at least. e

What we have is two people’s word against the convicted killer then and one against one today

Sorry, not buying it. Especially since you can't pray on a street corner in your country unless you're praying to Allah.

Which shouldn't be enough to condemn a man to death given the lack of other evidence.
Two witnesses said he did it

Is the recanted partner in crime willing to take his place on the execution table?

Of course not

This is an 11th hour scam

He may not be guilty of this particular charge but like all of us, I’m certain he’s done something worthy of execution. I’ve never met anyone teenage or older who hasn’t.

He says he will make the call right before the time of the execution. Guess the Gov likes the drama.
I’m sure the guv wants it both ways

But he’s not going to get off the hook on this one

It's not about justice for these people OP, it's about lawlessness and hatred.
I disagree with the death penalty full stop. But all the reasons ffor execution are being ignored here.
The ghouls will have you believe that it is only used when there is no reasonable doubt.
That is hardly the case in this instance. His only chance is the Gov. I dont know who that is. But I hope they favour justice.

I ont even know if he is guilty BTW. I just have doubts.

Ive never done anything similar. Trust you to reduce a debate to nonsense.

Because locking an innocent person away for life is better than executing him after 30 years?
