My new Grandson

Will be arriving in May. My daughter thinks she is having a girl but we will have to see.

My 4 year old grandson has taken the news well and now rubs his mams stomach every night while he tells his futire sib a story. What she/he makes of power rangers stories is anyones guess.

Have a cigar everyone I feel like a living God at the moment.
Congrats Tommy!

Congratulations on a grandson, but I'm also dismayed you bred in the first place with your crazy take on the world and politics. But as long as the family are healthy.

My parents weren't so bad with ours because we didn't really have "rules" for when the kids were there other than "please take them and try to keep at least one of them alive". One of my brothers and his wife had lots of rules so my parents would find them all out and break them just for sport. "Oh, your mom won't let you have Play-Doh, huh? Let's go get you the biggest can they have" and "Oh you are not supposed to have chocolate, huh? Let's go see if you like this thing they call lava cake".
Its school holidays here so he has been stopping at his other grandparents. He has given his other grandmother a torrid time comparing her to my wife on everything. Especially on how it pertains to his expectations. Quality of sausages is a major beef.

My wife, Julia, is loving it but pretending not to. I think it will only get worse and we will raise a monster.
Best thing I can do is keep quiet and keep my eyes on the TV. I dont want to get involved.

My wife's first real job in nursing was at an inpatient eating disorders center. As a result, we have always let the kids have total control over their food preferences and never use it as a reward or punishment. Of course we bumped them in the right direction, but if one went through a phase where they wanted tater tots and hot chocolate for breakfast every day, then that was what we gave them.

I have three grandchildren, F(12), F(10), and M(7). Their mother and father (my son) are divorced, and have both remarried, and are both heavily involved in their upbringing.

I have grave concerns not only about how they are being raised (both parents have Masters Degrees), but about the society in which they are being raised - a rich suburban White world where nobody lacks for anything.

In every objective way they are wonderful kids, but all are obsessed with their screens, the 12-year-old is "boy crazy," the ten-year-old will grow up to be a "Fuzzy," and the young boy - well he seems fairly normal (for this world).

I can't even imagine what it will be like for them to grow up in this society. For one thing, they are ALWAYS supervised, whether at school or at play or relaxing. Is that a good thing? When I was 9 and older I had free run of the world. Other than school and a few organized events, they never knew or had any concern about where I was or what I was doing. It's a different world, but is it a better one?

We were just happy if they ate anything. My grandmother indulged them in everything tho.
To this day they wont eat carrots unless they are mashed and my youngest still has mint sauce with everything. Even xmas dinner.

It sounds like they are lucky kids. I wouldnt worry about them. Loving parents, good home. Its a good start in life.

My parents tried to force me to eat green beans and peas as a tot and to this day I won't touch either. It can be tricky when it comes to the effects of food on kids. I never liked green beans. I would eat peas except they got all bent out of shape about how I was eating them one at a time with my fingers so I refused to even try them with a spoon

Peas are another grandparent hangover. They will all only eat processed peas. If you dont have them they are a pumped up version of normal peas. Foul.

That is about all we have around here. I do make split pea soup out of dried peas so technically I do eat pea mush, just not the pretty round ones all on their own.
