My mom is being hospitalized with the COVID -19

Please pray for her. She’s a great , hardworking woman, and I love her. I can now speak from the perspective of someone who has been affected by this in a very personal way. I know three people besides my mom that have the virus, but now that my mom has it it brings out a different perspective and range of emotions
Hoping for a speedy recovery.

How is she responding ?

Is she hospitalized ?

She’s in the hospital. She was in the ER last night, and today they put her in a room. She has a roommate that’s a very sick COVID patient. My mom had a fever of 103 last night and and oxygen level of 89. She was also a bit confused. They put her on oxygen so that stabilized, and her fever is normal after the drugs. She doesn’t seem worse than yesterday
89 oxygen level (saturation) This is measured by oxy/pulse meter attached to one of her finger. Meaning at that saturation they are only using the cannula tubings attached to her nose. This measure from 1 to 7 liters. One is for the baby 2 normal breathing. At 89 probably at 4 or 5. The goal is to get closer to 100. ( people with COPD are happy with 88 to 92).
if oxygen level goes up that is a very good sign. Any worse they will use a BIPAP this is like a mask that covers all over your face.

X Ray depending how far is the infections it will come up all white like a wings. Those are like thick bubbly saliva. At that stage you can almost hear your lungs like gargling. The respiratory specialist will be working on high gear on the side using a suction machine.
Of your mom status I cannot go further than this.

If you have any questions of the process from point to point let me know.

I’m sure her doctors are giving her the latest meds. Ask her doctor if they can give your mom a high dose of steroids called Solu-medrol given by infusion. It will not hurt but it’s a big help. This is being used every where depending on her insurance.

Good Luck. Wish you and your mom the best.

What are the steroids for ? Is that to keep air passages clear ?

Rocko, I am heading off to bed right now and your dear and precious mother will be in my prayers and so will you. I have this feeling she is going to be just fine. I can understand your worries and how unsettling it all is for you and I send hugs. I'll be thinking of you both each day.

I asked my sister who is a doctor about Solu-medrol, and she says that’s not recommended at this point.

How is she doing ?

She sounds about the same. She told me she’s not coughing or experiencing chest pains. The only difference is when she goes off the oxygen to go to the bathroom she gets really tired. The hospital is so swamped it’s impossible to get an update from a nurse or doctor. The phone just rings all day.

Solumedrol has a lot of purposes. Increase the immune system to fight the infection. They are also using several kinds anti fungi meds.

The flu can be deadly, this is serious. I hope she gets well soon.

I nearly died of the flu last year, January 2019, I had it for three weeks and they thought I was going to die, I was given The Last Rights. I was at home the ENTIRE time in total isolation, only Mr. Lucy wearing protective gear was allowed into the room. I have a phobia about going to stay in a hospital for more than 24 hours and so I decided no to hospital. There were several times I thought I was going to stop breathing because it was that bad. The ONLY other person who entered my room for those three weeks was my friend who is my Priest (and my Poker friend) who gave me The Last Rights. COVID-19 madness has totally fucked up our weekly Poker Games, which is literally SHOCKING that we have played Poker for so long and now it's all in this total confusion.

I only in my life had the flu one time before and it was NOTHING like I had last year, to the point I am now even thinking WAS that the flu OR was that COVID-19 back then? We do not even literally know when this thing first appeared, we just have a random time of sometime in November 2019 but what if a strain of it was around long before then?

I am having an Anti-Body test, the blood test, IF I had some early strain of COVID-19 I am hoping this will show in the results of the test, but half of me is thinking OMG if it does I don't want HALF the world's scientists descending on the house, not with all the terrible haircuts and bad fashion sense they seem to have :omg: :smoke:

^^^^ I remember I posted about nearly dying of the flu and being given The Last Rites last year in my Music Thread, also The Last Rites NOT The Last Rights :eusa_doh:

I saw that but I wasn't going to correct you. :)

Lucy, I'm so glad you made it through all that. My heart goes out to you and Rocko's mom.

I'm also happy to let you know that with proper treatment a 104-year-old Oregon man survived CV-19 (my abbreviation), and the upper west coast is to be commended for their early attack after all those people succumbed in Washington State. It's been proven time and time again that the American panacea is working, although the cdc is trying to make sure people do not get too overconficent.

I found some patterns for mouth and nose covers for those who can't find face covers that are effective:

...continuing prayers for Rocko, his mom, her friends and all their loved ones... for healing this wonderful lady who gave us...Rocko!

Thank you darling.

I am now back doing my duty, working for our Ministry of Interior, yesterday Friday I spend the majority of the day wearing a Hazmat suit having to deal with things On The Outside of The Lockdown, even though we are now beginning Week 4 of the lockdown there are so many things we have to deal with that involve us being in contact with Potential Situations. I HATE having to wear a Hazmat suit they make you very hot, they are uncomfortable and if you need to go to the bathroom it is very complicated for a girl because we have to take the entire thing off. Not a good happening.

Mr. Lucy is considered an Essential Worker being a Psychiatrist and he was in his office yesterday, during our weird 7 days of self-isolation he was dealing with his patients via Skype. So concerning those with mental health issues are even more distressed during this time.

Right now I am still working sans Hazmat suit, this is because during the lockdown we have taken measures to protect the most vulnerable and this includes women AND men who are victims of Domestic Violence, the thought of them being locked inside with a violent partner is horrifying and so I am just now going to do a check if all these peoples are okay in the form of a mass text out and I HOPE that when they all get the text the violent partner does not see it. IF in this instance they do, they know ASAP to phone our Special Emergency Alert Hotline and we aim to get the police to them within 5-10 minutes, the 10 minutes is the maximum.

Today Saturday we also have another of our massive deliveries to our most vulnerable, the elderly peoples, we have another massive delivery to each of them one of our Food and Essential Care Packages, this so they do NOT have to leave their houses, these packages should keep them going until the next massive delivery which is next Wednesday. We have a huge volunteer force of approx 560.000 peoples who have volunteered to use their autos to drive to delivery these important Food and Essential Care Packages across this nation. We thank them for this incredible act of compassion AND national duty that they have decided to take part it.

Mr. Lucy's Grandfather in Trondheim is a retired Cardiothoracic Surgeon, he is 78 years in age and has volunteered to come out of retirement to answer the call to duty once again during this COVID-19 situation, he has EXTENSIVE medical training AND experience in the fields of ALL things relating to the heart, lungs, esophagus/oesophagus and literally ANYTHING to do with the chest. We are VERY PROUD of Mr. Lucy's Grandfather that he has answered this call to duty but also we are VERY WORRIED about him as he's 78, he had better be TOTALLY covered in protective gear at ALL times during this situation he is going into.

Rocko, let us know how they are. Continued prayers.

based on her chest X-ray the doctor thinks she’s in her second week of symptoms. Her temperature is stable. They been giving her 3 to 4 litters of oxygen (usually 4 at night) to stabilize her oxygen levels. The doctor says they’ll continue to monitor her blood work every day. He’s not ready to put her on steroids yet, but said he may consider it depending on her lab results. He also told me he thinks she’ll pull through, but there are no guarantees. I really no updates on anyone else besides my mom. Thanks for asking btw
