I'm a Mom. And I Do NOT Like Mother's Day

Who thought it would be a great idea to have a holiday on which we're supposed to honor all the moms in our lives on the same day? Moms. Mother-in-laws. Grandmas. Great grandmas. There is almost no way to win unless you can somehow find a way to see, treat, and gift every single mother in your life.

Someone always loses. A lot of us do not care, but every family seems to have at least one woman who cares VERY VERY MUCH and makes Mother's Day her personal Day of Honor.

What I want for Mother's Day: my kids to save their money and live their best lives. What I get: STRESS.

Anyone else?
I have the same feeling about almost every Hallmark day. Christmas, Birthday, father's day, etc.

You are not alone.

I have experienced ALL of this except a "hot day" in the Spring. Here in MI, we sometimes get heat in May, usually the tail end....but we have also had snow and sleet on Mother's Day!
Down here in the SOUTH....
Where Easter is bigger than Mothers day....
(Not everyone has a momma but everyone celebrates Easter....and some would still have a momma if she had taken that Marlboro out of her mouth before telling that state trooper, "kiss my ass"....but that's another story).

Oh those flowers are gonna bake at 160⁰-240⁰ for at least 90 minutes and up to 3 hours in the car.....leaving an interesting odor for weeks.
All is good so long as that plastic shiny wrapping plastic doesn't melt onto the upholstery.

We handle it simply. Each mother (my mom, my sister, and my sister in law) get to do what they want to do that day.

I take my mother out to the least mother's day stereotypical restaurant I can find.

Last year it was a BBQ joint. This year Steakhouse.
Sounds like a win/win to me!

Not to mention the fact that some mothers are horrible people and horrible parents.

It should be named to "Good Mother's Day."
I second this. Yeah, they are who bring the children into this world, but sadly the thought of going any further than that requires a box car that way too many of their brain trains don't possess in the first place. :( :( :(

God bless you always!!!

I agree, you're one big mother. :smoke:

Seriously, I've always seen these holidays as just one more PC thing. Basically, it is just to alleviate guilt in guys who are basically admitting they take the women in their lives for granted all the rest of the year so now want to feel good about themselves and justified by giving ladies one day of attention.

Frankly, I don't know a whole lot of guys who could do what a lot of women do, and often, for less pay, credit or attention than they deserve.

Agreed that guys cant do easily what women do naturally....

But the reverse is true of guys vx women and women cant do the things guys do easily and naturally...its a hardwiring/software thing created by God each gender has to accomplish a set of tasks. Both sets of skills together makes a complete team.

Funny how it works that way. Lol

Somebody's always going to lose out.

This is such a great point. Moms who are raising small children--and putting in the work and time--just want a few hours to themselves. Moms like me, who have grown children, LOVE to see them! But anytime, not only Mother's Day.

Yeah....
She wanted a cat that loves her....

NOPE....

Doesn't exist. Cats love no one.

The wife and I took a motorcycle ride to Canada for lunch.

OK, let's see a show of hands here: Let's take a poll: Who is the biggest Mother here. Let's see all you mothers make your case on what makes you such a mother.

Line up: Tallest mother to shortest mother. I know there are some real mothers on this board. :smoke:
