Michele Bachmann dismisses CBO then uses CBO numbers within 60 seconds

The fake numbers came from Democrats desperate to pass Obamacare.

what a loser!

The CBO produced both sets of numbers, dipshit!

You choose to believe one set is "fake" for the same reason you selectively misinterpret the constitution: Because you are a partisan ideologue zombie.

This is partisan nonsense.

where does the cbo get their information from?

They develop econometric models from the text of the legislation. Then, using econometric modeling, the CBO makes an estimate. The CBO, based on statistical analysis and cross referencing empirical data, will draw their own conclusions on the affect of the legislation. If, for example, a legislator says "We will build a hospital for $100," the CBO will say "No you won't."

Forecasting is an enormously difficult task, and I don't expect the CBO to be any more accurate than the next place. But the CBO is an independent body. Those saying they don't have have credibility don't have credibility.

The CBO is independent and non-partisan, but when you start with garbage in- you get garbage out. For instance - why did Congressional Democrats ask for a 10 year forecast on Obamacare?? Because they were able to collect 10 years of taxes to pay for 6 years of benefits - thus making "the numbers' look good. It is a scam for the "sound bite" culture.

so they get their information from the democrats on this....

Soooooooooo

We shouldn't believe this because Democrats are feeding numbers to the CBO.

Instead, we should just believe whatever we already believe.

The Democrats clearly planned this ahead in order to be able to bring these made-up CBO numbers today obviously.

Well now, if we are truly interested in saving money on health care, perhaps we need to look to those that cover all of their citizens, have better results, and do it for far less money. Such as Canada, Japan, Germany, Taiwan, and, yes, even little Costa Rica.

CBO deals another blow to House health plan
By PATRICK O'CONNOR | 7/18/09

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office dealt another blow to House Democrats on Friday night, saying their health care bill would increase the federal deficit by $239 billion over the next 10 years.

The projected shortfall means Democrats would need to find additional revenue or make deeper cuts to existing programs in order to meet their goal of paying for the $1 trillion bill.

But those projections don't account for a $245 billion reduction in the deficit this legislation would create, if Democrats can also approve new balanced budget rules that would permanently address an annual shortfall in Medicare payments to physicians Democrats may also defend the cost of their bill by pointing out that in the long run, under new accounting rules, the bill would generate a $6 billion surplus.

I am not sure what you mean- 'this'...my post was just an example of how the cbo, not illegitimately btw, but none the less does have, to some extent predicate its calcs on numbers generated via political process.

When Medicare was passed the CBO estimated the cost of Medicare part A to be $9 Billion by 1990. Actual Expenditure in 1990 was $67 billion .....Does anyone really believe that another HUGE entitlement program is going to reduce the deficit....:lol::lol::lol::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:

Ah shit. 67 Billion. What a waste, we could have invaded some third world nation for that, and given most of it to Haliburton while we were at it.

yeah in canada you can wait days instead of hours for routine procedures and medical reports. I'll keep my insurance, thanks.

something half your ossiah's cabinet was in favor of and voted for.

You might want to check the numbers on what precentage of canadians like their health care, and the percentage of Americans like their health care. I would rather wait days, then not be able to go at all.

as i said, the WHO numbers are based on availability.

Or have to declare bankruptcy when you finally do go.

Over half of U.S bankruptcies result from out-of-pocket medical expenses, according to a study published on June 24, 2005 in the journal Health Affairs. The study, conducted by researchers at Harvard’s medical and law schools, is based on interviews with 1,771 individuals who filed for bankruptcy in 2001. Of these filers, 931 cited medical causes for their financial woes.

On July 17, 2007, Professor Elizabeth Warren from the Harvard Law School testified before the House Committee on the Judiciary that rising health care costs are linked to increased bankruptcy rates among the middle-class. She states that since 2000, “an estimated five million families have filed for bankruptcy in the aftermath of serious medical problems. The current health care finance system is bankrupting hard-working, play-by-the-rules American families.”

and don't force me to wait days so we can all live in socialist utopia.

Of course the numbers are generated through the political process. All spending is generated through the political process.

That's different, however, than saying the CBO has no credibility because the Democrats are in power and are feeding them the numbers.

That's also different than forecasting being difficult, which is how I read your link.

I would rather live in socialist utopia than the third world the US is becoming. I also would rather not pay inflated prices because I have to make up the cost for people who don't have health insurance. My son is also on state medical, and he has a great doctor, he has his insurance through a Co Op, and if he is sick, he can be seen that day.
Like I said, if Canadian health care is so bad, why do so many people like it?

Medical Bankruptcy Epidemic: Health Care Costs Trigger Half of All Personal Bankruptcies in U.S.

My parents are still paying on my mom's heart attack a year later, and my dad has good health insurance. They are lucky my dad's union job allows them to pay the bill, but just imagine what would have happened if like so many other people he was laid off this last year?
I am 30 and I have many friends who have had medical bills go to collection.

I also like it when you look up who is contributed to John Boehner's campaign fund over the last few years. Makes you realize why he is REALLY against this bill.
