Marine jailed after attacking Pentagon in viral video over Afghanistan withdrawal

If, if, if... It should be pretty obvious nothing was learned in Vietnam. The lessons didn't make it past George H.W. Bush. Politicians and most civilians have a memory about as thick as a fingernail, or we would not try to convert the world to a better place that the inhabitants don't want.
Epitaph on the Vietnam Memorial: PROUD TO DIE TAKING A RICH KID'S PLACE

Entitled Preppies must be drafted at age 18 (no college deferment ever again!) and sent to the front lines. When the ruling class has to sacrifice its own sons for its own mistakes, only then will it wise up.

That is a different subject. If there ever is a draft (I prefer volunteers) there should absolutely be no deferments for collage, alternate non-military services, family commitments or even sex.

Half my company (Hotel 2/5) made it back only in a body bag.
I am very sorry. My brother was in a marine platoon, and only one of only 4 or 5 in the platoon that made it through one of the Tet offensives, alive. He was never the same and never made a really smooth transition after his tour. I hope your transition was better. It was not worth it and was not ever going to be worth it. Now we know, as a country we didn't even learn from it.

Once again, can I see some kind of reference for that? Because that is contrary to everything I know about 2/5 in the Tet Offensive.

One of the most decorated units in that battle, was awarded the PUC, and effectively destroyed 2 NVA-VC battalions. About half of those involved from 2/5 were wounded, but not killed.

We Delayed the Expansion of Communism Enough to Later Make It Implode. Just Like the Crusades Saved Europe, Buying Time.

It was worth it, but our incompetent leaders weren't worth a bowl of rotten rice.

May I ask what unit he was in? Because I have never heard of a platoon loosing around 20 people in that offensive.
Trotting With No Legs

Even before Tet, Foxtrot Company in my battalion lost 59 dead out of 150 in a matter of hours (Operation Union II). Survivors told me that their Captain foolishly led them into an ambush, thinking he could trap the enemy instead (as had earlier been accomplished on Operation Tuscaloosa, led by a wiser commander). Nevertheless, the Captain got a posthumous Medal of Honor in order to save face.

By the way, that massacre made me think that Col. Travis at the Alamo might have thought he could accomplish what Jackson did at New Orleans.

Full Metal Casket

I served before Tet. During my six months out there before I was transferred, 38 Marines out of 150 (never T/O) got killed.

Poor choice of words, "attacking". More like criticizing. It's been a long time but I think the UCMJ prevents members of the Military from openly criticizing their superior officers. Too bad it doesn't extend to retired field grade officers from criticizing their former commander-in-chief for book deals.

Under Obama the military started to have radicalism in it. There is proof of it. Nothing happened to people. I guess it depends on who is in charge. Those soldiers who fight. Really will fight know what is going on. They have their military families and take care of each other. They know is good and who is not. When it comes to incursions and wars they follow orders. They are not taught to be cops. They are warriors. UCMJ with Progs is just another institution to be used against the peasant for the glorious Globalist State for not complying with their demands.

You’ve never read any history about World War II have you? The Military including a Corporal named Adolph Hitler believed they were winning the First World War, and when the nation Surrendered, looked around for someone to blame. You see, they had fought, and knew first hand how well they were doing. So they rationalized that it must have been the Communists, and their Jew controllers, a world wide Jewish Conspiracy, that caused Germany to lose the First World War.

Someone who is there can tell you what it was like there. They can tell you of their own experiences, but they can’t tell you if we are winning or losing. In Vietnam, we won the battles, and lost the war. We were always going to lose. And Afghanistan is exactly the same. Nobody has ever conquered Afghanistan. The terrain is terrible, and the people determined. Imagine invading Texas. Do you think that anyone would ever subjugate them? Or would they fight on for generations if that is what it took? I’d bet they would fight for generations, if that is what it took to be free Texans.

To our idiotic Lieutenant Colonel. The UCMJ is very specific. You do not do what he did. Ever. Period. If you do you face Courts Martial, or if you are very lucky Non Judicial Punishment. He is too highly ranked for Non Judicial Punishment. It was going to be a Courts Martial. If he is very lucky at this point, he will find himself looking at a General Discharge. I doubt he’ll get that lucky. I think the Marines will boot him as an E-I Owe You one. Complete with the Dishonorable Discharge. That is a Felony Conviction if you are wondering.

This is not new. This has been the standard for our Military for generations. You just do not denigrate or speak out against our leadership as part of your official position. You get in civilian clothing, and you make the statement, as a civilian, if ever. You do not reference the Military, or any experience you have. Until you are well and truly out you don’t do it.

This fellow joins a long line of idiots who learned the lesson the hard way. And he will profess not to regret it. And perhaps he doesn’t. But he changed nothing.

And if you wonder if it happened while I was in. You bet your ass it did. I personally jumped on my Corporal’s ass when he bad mouthed the President before the troops. I flatly told him if he did that again I’d march his ass to the Commander personally and bring him up on charges myself. He could have any opinions he wanted. But he was not to express them while in uniform and on duty. If he needed to express them he was free to do so as an American Citizen, in civilian clothing, in a civilian setting.

That Corporal left the Army, and it was better off without him. This Colonel just threw away all the time he has served. He won’t get any retirement. He won’t get any benefits, and he’s going to be facing a Dishonorable. That will make him ineligible for a lot of jobs.

He didn’t speak truth to power. He wasn’t brave. He was stupid. So stupid I wonder how he got to that rank. Someone should have eased him out of the Corps a long time ago.

Once you are out you are free to write your book or whatever. What you can’t do is reveal any classified data. You are supposed to submit your book to the Pentagon for clearance if there is even the remotest chance that something classified may be in it.
