keys to the kingdom

There is no doubt, the early church regarded Jesus as God incarnate, but you know better than the ones who walked, talked, and ate with Him.
That doesn't factor into his thinking at all. He's paying back the religious in their own coin. It's quite amusing how much religious people live in the heads of atheists. Jesus is just a tool for atheists. Their real objective is to rile up Christians. They are sick in the head that way. It's quite pathetic. Most don't even know they are doing it. They are actually quite stupid.

look who's talking ...

Thats just not true. You have been fed a bowl of fairy tale porridge with no basis in reality.

The early church consisted of Jewish people who would have stoned Jesus themselves if they thought that Jesus claimed to be God incarnate. As it was Judas betrayed the 'love thy enemy" Jesus because he was expecting the messiah to be a warrior king who would kill the enemy with a magical sword.

The disciples believed that God spoke through Jesus and Jesus said so clearly, "God tells me what to say and how to say it." a reference to and fulfillment of Deuteronomy 18:18, about God 'raising up" (from the dead) a prophet like Moses, a Jewish man, "and I shall put my words into his mouth and he shall convey all of my commands."

So when Jesus was asked "You are not yet 50. ( which implies he was in his 40's) How can you know Abraham." And Jesus responded, "before Abraham was born I AM." it was not Jesus claiming to be God, it was God, who existed before Abraham, claiming to be in and with and teaching and speaking through Jesus, a man, in fulfillment of Deut 18:18

No. I believe what they believed as clearly expressed in John 6:68 when Jesus was asked if the remaining disciples would leave him too after he explained what he meant, WORDS, the Body of his teaching, when he said "eat my flesh", and Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom shall we go? Your WORDS are WORDS of eternal life. We have faith and know that you are THE HOLY ONE OF GOD, a direct reference to the prophet promised by God in Deuteronomy 18:18. A JEWISH MAN.

Aside from that, whatever is written anywhere, if Jesus claimed to be God and the discipled believed that then they were all as insane as you are for being so stupid to perpetuate such scurrilous bullshit that his enemies accused him of claiming to discredit him and brings the name of Jesus and all Christians into disrepute among the intelligent.

So if people make fun of you for being such a pretentious ass 'believing' you're saved by perjuring yourself in the name of God and desecrating the teachings of Jesus, the Actual Body of Christ, its your own fault for allowing Satan to enter your mind to perpetuate lies.

Sophistry.

Why was Jesus worshipped as God?
When was Jesus first worshipped as God?
Why was the NT written as the historical record of Jesus is God?

Very good, there may be hope for you yet, because you just admitted that Jesus claimed to be God, because that's exactly what the Jews attempted to kill Him for, multiple times. Those who believed Jesus is God did so because they saw the signs and wonders He performed, having power over life, death, illness and nature.

And again, you have to perform linguistic gymnastics to make the Scripture say what it patently is NOT saying. There would have been no reason for the Jews to attempt stoning Jesus had He NOT been saying He was I AM. of course, you ignore where He states that He has the power to forgive sin, something only God can do.

I don't know how anyone reading the New Testament can conclude anything other than Jesus claiming to be God.
I don't know how anyone reading the New Testament can conclude anything other than his apostles believed Jesus is God.

Why was Jesus worshipped as God?

Why was the NT written as the historical record of Jesus is God?
Why do you brazenly practice idolatry?
Why do you openly perjure yourself in the name of God?
Why do you desecrate the words of Jesus, the Actual Body of Christ?

Its your nature?

So now you're claiming that the thousands who put their lives on the line and suffered horrendous persecution did so knowing full well that what they were preaching and dying for was a lie. You go with that.

sophistry. :safetocomeoutff:

When you take passages out of context like you did to make them mean something completely opposite of what that means, it is 100% sophistry.

You read the NT and conclude Jesus wasn't claiming to be God which is completely opposite what the NT says.
You read the NT and conclude his apostles didn't accept Jesus as God which is completely opposite what the NT says.
By definition that is sophistry. Not very clever sophistry but sophistry nonetheless.

The early disciples believed, yet you claim to know better than the ones who walked, talked, and ate with Jesus. That's the bottom line.

Why do you brazenly practice idolatry?
I'm not. You are basing that on your sophistry.
Why do you openly perjure yourself in the name of God?
I'm not. You are basing that on your sophistry.
Why do you desecrate the words of Jesus, the Actual Body of Christ?
I'm not. You are basing that on your sophistry.
Its your nature?
No. It's your sophistry and I can prove it because you can't answer these three questions.

Why was Jesus worshipped as God?
When was Jesus first worshipped as God?
Why was the NT written as the historical record of Jesus is God?

Wrong. Jesus publicly exposed the "religious authorities" as actors and lying frauds ripping off people and causing unspeakable suffering for the Jewish laity being fleeced to support the corruption of Temple worship, imposters who didn't understand the meaning of the words or the subjects of the law about which they were so sanctimoniously dogmatic, just so they could lead smooth easy lives while everyone else suffered.

That was enough for them to want him discredited cancel or better yet get him killed.

of course, you ignore where He states that He has the power to forgive sin, something only God can do.
According to Jesus everyone has the power to forgive. Its stated right in the Bible so I believe. Yuk yuk.

You are a bad joke.

Wrong. Jesus corrected their belief that it's not about rule following, it's about loving God and your neighbor; and that the messiah was not a king in the mold of David but a suffering servant as foretold in Isaiah 53.
That was enough for them to want him discredited cancelled or better yet killed.
Jesus responds:

“My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants [would] be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here.”
