In Christianity, justification before the Lord is an event. For the Romanists it's process. A continuing activity where sinners try to become good enough to deserve Heaven. This isn't Gospel ("good news") ...it's Bad News ! Auto-soteric works salvation where redemption-if it occurs at all- takes place in church by sinners struggling to save themselves. SANCTIFICATION is a process- becoming more Christ like. Justification is not sanctification. Justification is a one time immediate event- we are justified through faith. As Paul says it in Romans, “we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law” (Rom. 3:28). Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Paul explains, “This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace” (Romans 3:22-24).

ninja007, what is your agenda? Are you trying to cause Catholics to doubt their faith?

Totally false as a brilliant Bible scholar who was of your opinion became a Catholic,. John Henry Newman
yes, you do not earn the faith that brings you into the Church but that is the faith that commands you to work.

"Shall we then define the justifying faith of the Lutherans to be faith which is lively? This is a more adequate account of it, but a less consistent one. For what is meant by lively? is it to be explained as {9} merely that, which in the event is fruitful, without having in itself anything discriminating or characteristic? But surely that which results in good works must have some principle in it which is the cause of that result; and this is confessed by calling it lively. What then is the life of faith? What is that which makes it what it is? What is that, not on account of which it is acceptable (for we all acknowledge that Christ is the only meritorious cause of our acceptance), but what is that property in it which makes it (for Christ's sake) acceptable?
