Time ran out before they got to Stormy Daniels, whose account of a one-night sexual encounter with Trump – which he also denies – is at the heart of the case, at least if it can be tied to falsified business records.

Under questioning by Manhattan Assistant D.A. Josh Steinglass, Pecker said he even viewed it as his duty to the campaign to help keep damaging Trump stories out of other publications.

In his second day of testimony at the hush money trial, Pecker said former Trump fixer Michael Cohen invited him to the candidate’s June 2015 launch, part of an effort to show how close he was to Trump and his team. (My personal favorites: He pitched a magazine called Trump Style, and Trump would leak him the ratings for "The Apprentice," which the Enquirer would publish.)

My first thoughts were linking the falsification of business records to the underlying crimes was going to be too difficult for the prosecution but Pecker's testimony has changed my mind. The Catch and Kill scheme and payoffs Pecker described are violations of New York State Election Law. And it was financed by Trump routing funds through Cohen and shell corporations. Trump's recording the payments in his check register as legal expenses and having them recorded in the general leger of the business as legal expenses was falsifications of business records.

Pecker also reveled a $30,000 payment to an elevator operator to coverup another affair with Karen McDougal. I guess these funds were also funneled through Cohen.

Trump's payoffs were a clear violation of federal election law, however Bragg has chose not to use this in his case at least not yet. I think he is doing this because it would give the defense an argument that Trump was never charged with federal election law violations.

Imagine our constitution being more than a thousand pages. President Obama believed that our constitution was written wrong. Instead of limiting the powers of the federal government, it should have enumerated all the powers and services the government should provide to the people—a Socialist/Communist manifesto.

Democrats called the 2016 election stolen for years and took steps to overthrow Trump. Where are the investigations of them? Oh, wait a minute. I spoke too soon. Those investigations are coming when Republicans take over the House after the midterms.
