Jesus was a rich conservative industrialist

You know nothing about our laissez-faire economy and how it destroyed our economy, do you?

Yes, the innocent liberal/progressive is never responsible for anything, are they, go start a thread about it and see how successful you are. Should be brilliant, I can't wait.

Just say "No, I know nothing about it" and move on.

This is where the so called enlightened intellectual is parted by the sardonic/sarcastic troll in the bush..

Jesus and the Miraculous Catch of Fish

21 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee.[a] It happened this way: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3 “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.

5 He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”

“No,” they answered.

6 He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. 8 The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.[c] 9 When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.

10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Yes, early in history, Jesus proves the value of Capitalism as a way to avoid Socialism.

socialism is God's favorite way to let you know how he runs Heaven....

Parable of the laborers. Parable of the Talents.

Jesus was rich, just his riches were different than the worlds standards.

He was conservative in that He was restoring the faith of His Father.

He worked hard as a builder and than in his ministry. I suppose that could make him an industrialist.

BTW giving away fish doesn't make you liberal. Having the government take the fish from the other fisherman and having the government give those away does.

Evidently God provided the fish and loaves of bread available, fortunately God is not stingy and does not mind people taking his blessings of the Earth...

Who said otherwise?

Jesus was a venture capitalist.

And a damn successful one at that.

He pitched his idea to the masses and got people to give him money to do it.

Yes, early in history, Jesus proves the value of Capitalism as a way to avoid Socialism.

I am of the understanding that the disciples, along with Jesus aid, caught alot of fish. But what I am missing is what did they do with that fish?

Did they sell it? That is Capitalism
Did they give some away?--That sounds a bit like socialism.

Or did they let the fish rot in the net? Now that would be Communism!!

Well, first as it states, they ate the fish.

Second, I am sure that these fisherman were not in the business of giving away fish, I think its safe to say they dried the fish, preserved the fish, sold the fish, traded the fish. They marketed their labor, their private property, as they always did.

Socialism, this was not.

How can you say that Jesus and his disciples are not in the business of giving fish away!?!?!?

Have you forgotten the miracle of the fish and loaves in which they fed people, free of charge mind you, until they were full.

Hmm, they may not have been shrewd capitalists after all. More like some form of Theocratic socialism that you see those "White and Gold" Catholics practice!!

Hey, I'm not saying they did not sell any. Remember, Jesus did pay the pole tax through fishing. I am just saying that their "fishing" is not always for money.

(By the way, I tend to think that the disciples caught alot of fish as in more fish than they could eat themselves. I could be wrong.)

Ahhh--this is where you miss the finer point about who Jesus is!!

Jesus is King of Heaven. Thus he is a government himself--in other words a Monarch. The concept of capitalist or socialist now only applies to how he handled other peoples property!!

He commanded the Disciples on how to fish(regulation) and at times took their fish for purposes unrelated to them(a voluntary form of taxation!!)

And as I pointed out earlier, sometimes he would take that fish and feed people that was less fortunate(In other words, Jesus may have established the worlds first welfare state through his ministries.)

Now if Jesus has done this to his hard working disciples(which was his industrial base) what do you think he was now?

those that want to build upon their treasures,,,,do not agree...

Ya'all realize Jesus was fiction, right? like the Will o' the wisp or sasquatch or the chucacabra or vampires. Yeah. You knew that already.

Jesus's life is documented in many places ,the man walked this earth, was crucified, which was documented by the Romans, and Jews. Sorry but its true.

It does not matter if Jesus was real or fictional To have this conversation.

I am all for the "Who is faster, the Flash or Superman" question regardless of the fact that it does not matter.

The hilarity of this thread on the question "was Jesus a capitalist or socialist" is has that quality to it. It does not really matter, but somebody is serious enough to claim it does matter and try to argue for one of the other.

Which tends to bring up another stupid question for a thread--Is Lucifer a Capitalist or Socialist? I say Lucifer is a Capitalist. What do you guys think?

Yet Socialism on Earth, always destroys and kills those who believe in Religion, no Church was allowed in Socialist Russia, Socialist China is destroying Christians.

God does not practice Socialism, I am not forced to work for the government or God, I am given the freedom to choose, Socialism gives you no choice, you are not free to decide if you are a factory worker or a doctor, the state decides.

Jesus, a Socialist, nope, not at all.

None.
Capitalist wet dream?
Definitely!
If a man asks for your shirt, give him your cloak as well.
Then ask him for ten bucks and if he doesn't have it tell him you will finance at 25%.
You're a moron.

NO, Jesus told some people to throw the net to the RIGHT, not the left. That is all.

The fishing industry of the Galilee was owned and controlled by the Roman Empire, it was there property.

Parables in the Bible, feed my flock, I am sure that did mean give fish to a flock of sheep? Further it would be impossible to feed Jesus's "flock", with one net of fish.

Jesus told the fisherman to look the other way for the answer, they threw to the LEFT and were empty, they threw to the RIGHT and began their life.

To the left was the Romans, to the Right led the founding of the USA, a hope of freedom for everybody, which today's Liberal/Socialist/Democrat ideas have nothing to do with.

Or maybe you do not understand what Socialism is and the damage it has done. In our country the first Socialists were the Pilgrims, that was a documented failure.

Yes, many countries use Capitalism to pay for social welfare programs.

on your third point, I knew enough to know there are fishing stories in the Bible as well as I knew enough to use the story to make a point.

Come on.

The reference of "right" and "left" is not in terms of political symbolism. It is in term of direction. If there was any symbolism it is in reference to a Hebrew metaphysical concept of "right" and "left" which has nothing to do with political ideology.

Please, try to base your arguments on what Jesus suppose to have done. Not this symbolic reaching that requires creative interpretation unrelated to the meaning of the text.

An Aside---To add to my argument that Jesus practice a form of socialism. Remember in order to stay within the Kingdom of heaven, you have to heed Jesus words and pray to god. So the Disciples had to do as Jesus says, or receive the fine of expulsion from the Kingdom of Heaven. Thus I was wrong to suggest that anything they did upon Jesus request was voluntary. They either did as Jesus said or was severely penalized.

That sounds like heavy handed socialism to me. What do you think?

I was thinking

If Lucifer and Jesus was running for public office, Lucifer would win in an historic landslide!!

Just think which of them would be the most successful politician.

The more "down to Earth" shrewd Capitalist that knows what he wants and will do whatever it takes to get it (Lucifer).

Or the lofty idealist that is honorable and truthful and has a habit of relating to god in a politically disturbing way(Jesus)?
