Zone1 Is there a reason besides desiring voter fraud/cheating to NOT have Voter ID?

Pretty sure we can prove it. Measure citizens against voters
Every year there are examples of voting fraud/shadiness.. we need to re-secure the whole process.

For whatever reason, the Democrats fully oppose this. The answers so far are:

1. Minorities are too stupid
2. Old people and minorities can’t be bothered to lift a finger in the process.

It’s staggering how they lie about and insult the people they pretend to care about

I can’t think of any logical reason why any US voter would oppose a requirement of validating their ID to vote.

Are any USMB leftists/Democrats able to do so? Your party always fights it, and many of your states don’t require it. It’s a leftist position (and a radical one, way out there in left field. Pretty much All other countries require it.
We already do that in Mizzouri so yer argument is moot here.

You have to explain how requiring voter ID prevents citizens to not be able to vote. You just keep saying it. Walk us through it.
You first
Explain how people are sneaking in to vote for someone else
Doesn’t happen

You stop more legitimate voters than you will ever prevent

Voter intimidation

I find it rather revealing the same folks insistent of a vax ID do not care about a voter ID here ~S~

Here is the unpleasant reality: EVERY ADMINISTRATIVE "burden" that is imposed on voters, regardless of what it is, reduces the Black vote. You must register in advance...fewer Black voters. You must go to the polls (no mail-in voting)...fewer Black voters. Picture ID required...fewer Black voters.

No matter what it is, it will reduce the number of Black votes. And Blacks vote for Democrats about 90% of the time (the Trump impact notwithstanding). THAT is why Democrats fight voter ID.

Interestingly, a majority of Blacks - ALL POC's in fact - favor requiring a picture ID to vote.

Those are gone. Nothing to do with the topic.

Everything to do with the topic.

I hear that talking point from mostly white woke liberals. Are they incapable of updating or getting ID? Most have ID for driving, work, gun ownership, alcohol, and all the other reasons you need it.

Um, no.

Key findings from the analysis include:

  • As of 2020, nearly 29 million voting-age U.S. citizens did not have a non-expired driver’s license and over 7 million did not have any other form of non-expired government-issued photo identification.
  • In states with strict photo identification laws in 2020 – including Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Wisconsin – over 3 million voting-age U.S. citizens did not have a current driver’s license and over 1 million did not have any non-expired government-issued photo identification. Two additional states, Arkansas and Ohio (as of April 4, 2023), have enacted strict photo ID laws since 2020, with more expected to follow as state legislatures convene this year.
  • More than 11 million young people (18-29 year olds) did not have a current driver’s license and more than 3 million did not have any unexpired government issued photo ID.
    • 18-19 year olds in particular were the most likely by far to lack a driver’s license (39% did not have a license.)
  • Members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups were less likely to have a current driver’s license or other government-issued photo ID.
    • An estimated 1.86 million Black non-Hispanic Americans (6.2%), 1.86 million Hispanic Americans (6.1%) lack a photo ID, as do 4.5% of those who identify as Native American, Native Alaskan, or another race. This compares to just 2.3% of White non-Hispanic Americans and 1.6% of Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander Americans.
  • Individuals with a high school degree or less were the least likely to have a current driver’s license or any photo ID. Over 18.5 million people who did not complete high school or whose highest level of education is a high school degree did not have a driver’s license.
  • The analysis found a strong relationship between income and lack of a driver’s license, with adult Americans earning less than $30,000 lacking a driver’s license at a rate about five times greater than the highest income category of $100,000 or more.

Where/who are all these marginalized communities who don’t have ID, or are being denied access to getting it?

Unless proven otherwise, I think it’s obvious that if you want to get ID, it’s easy to do, and most “marginalized communities” can get them easily, they aren’t too stupid (as you and many woke white democrats seem to think)

how about this? How about you guys PROVE that there is widespread voter fraud before you disenfranchise millions of people.

Do pretty much all other countries suppress their vote?
Most other countries don't have a minority that used to be slaves and have suffered 400 years of systematic racism.

If they're not literate enough to have ID, they're not literal enough to vote Joe.

The problem of voter ID doesn't exist in Canada Joe. Your objection to it sounds like sour grapes over the election. You need to accept it as the new America. There are lots of changes coming that are a lot more important than ID!

Canada didn't have slavery.

Guy, Trump isn't going to change anything. His second administration will be a bigger fail than his first.

Then your masters in the Kremlin will have to find a new useful idiot.

These people do NOT have jobs, library cards, or anything. They are NOT part of society....
Just because they breathe American air doesn't give you a right to say how things work.

And there's the false assumption that these people are actually Americans to begin with.

If you look up how to get an ID, the process is easy. If people don’t want to get one, that’s on them. Not everyone wants one, it doesn’t mean they were wronged.
how about this? How about you guys PROVE that there is widespread voter fraud before you disenfranchise millions of people.
How about we make elections as secure as possible. There’s no reason not to. It doesn’t have to be “widespread” to be dealt with.. you add that to shift the goal posts.

The issue is: should we have to prove our identity to vote? If not, why not? You have to prove it for nearly anything else. It makes no sense to not apply it to voting of all things.
Most other countries don't have a minority that used to be slaves and have suffered 400 years of systematic racism.
.. which ended like 150 years ago. Let me guess, they are hopeless unless super white elite democrats come save them? Stop with the soft bigotry, it’s so condescending.

No. It should be mandatory.

You`re looking to solve a problem that doesn`t exist. The Republican Secretary of State in Georgia, combed the state`s voter rolls and found that 20 of 8.2 million registered voters were not legal U.S. citizens. Money well spent, it was not. :abgg2q.jpg:
That`s correct, 20 of 8.2 million.

These people do NOT have jobs, library cards, or anything. They are NOT part of society....
Just because they breathe American air doesn't give you a right to say how things work.

And there's the false assumption that these people are actually Americans to begin with.

If they are citizens, they are allowed to vote.

Period.

That they are too poor to get an up to date ID when they have to move constantly should not deprive them of their right to vote.

If you look up how to get an ID, the process is easy. If people don’t want to get one, that’s on them. Not everyone wants one, it doesn’t mean they were wronged.

Not as easy as you think. Aren't you fuckwads constantly complaining about the inefficiency of the DMV? Every time we suggest universal health care like any other civilized country, you say, "Do you want your health care run like the DMV!"

I recently had to take my wife in to get her name and address changed on her driver's licence. (She has a driver's license, but doesn't drive.) Because of the current clusterfuck that is the DMV in our state, I had to reserve a time two weeks in advance.

How about we make elections as secure as possible. There’s no reason not to. It doesn’t have to be “widespread” to be dealt with.. you add that to shift the goal posts.

The problem is, you are willing to eliminate a certain number of people who have every right to vote in order to eliminate those who aren't. And I don't think that's by accident. I think the real problem isn't that you want to keep non-citizens from voting (and there's very little evidence they are) but you want to keep poor people and people of color from voting.

.. which ended like 150 years ago. Let me guess, they are hopeless unless super white elite democrats come save them? Stop with the soft bigotry, it’s so condescending.

Uh, guy, slavery didn't end 150 years ago. I would suggest you study something called "Debt Peonage". That didn't end until 1942. Jim Crow. Poll Taxes. Miscegenation Laws. Literacy Tests. This is all shit that has existed within my lifetime.

You cannot have a bank account without ID.
You cannot purchase ANY restricted or controlled substance without identification (Sudafed, tobacco, alcohol or prescription medicine)
Debit cards also require ID.
Accessing public education requires identification.
Medical treatment of any kind needs identifying information
ALL legal employment requires two forms of identification.
Check cashing services also require identification.
Bus passes require identification.

Not as easy as you think.
Sorry, Providing paperwork is easy.

Because of the current clusterfuck that is the DMV in our state,

I had to reserve a time two weeks in advance.
If someone wants to vote in 2028, they have approximately 207 weeks to do so. I’m sure they can get on the books. if someone wants to get an ID to vote, they have every opportunity. Maybe they just don’t want to.. and maybe they don’t want to vote (my dad doesn’t). It doesn’t mean he was wronged, and it doesn’t mean a person who didn’t go out of their way to get a license or validate their ID was wronged. You write a fictional narrative.

No, I just don’t think poor people and/or people of color are too stupid or lazy to do a simple think like get a drivers license. You do. You ought to re-examine how you view them.. they aren’t as inferior as you think.
Uh, guy, slavery didn't end 150 years ago.
???????

It was abolished in 1865. Today is 2024. That’s 159 years ago.

How do you get such a factual statement so wrong? Where did you go to school? You ought to try to get your money back.
