You could not use your military ID to register to vote ....under the save act military ids are not good enough, driver's photo ID licences are not accepted, REAL ID driver's licences are not accepted either even though it was required to have a birth certificate shown when getting it.....
A US passport costing $160 is accepted, a birth certificate is accepted except for ALL MARRIED WOMEN registering to vote...the birth certificate has their maiden names on them so married or divorced women would also need to get or buy a copy of their marriage licence where their maiden and married names show the change of name too which is a burden on women that is not on men....
The bill is not well thought out and does put unnecessary burden on certain voting groups which makes it unfair and unconstitutional....
And why aren't the voters already registered made to go through these extremes in order to vote....? For all the existing voters REAL ID is acceptable for them but NOT the people newly registering now....
In the Save Act, the citizens already registered to vote will be vetted for citizenship without the burden of proof of birth/citizenship being put on them individually....the SAVE act lets the local govts check a new data system created to confirm their birth rights.... So they do not have to go through the burden it puts on new voters....
If this new data base can be used to verify the existing voter's citizenship, then why oh why oh why can't it be used by the States on newly registering voters? Instead of making them go through this shit?
Republicans do not want more women registering to vote, do not want more students registering to vote, etc etc etc it seems.....?
