Is it better to live in the US or in Europe?

Right, so if we say "Which is better to live in, North Korea or the US?", we're going to give an example of Kim Jong Un, right?

We're going to talk about one man? Not the fact that most people in North Korea are starving slaves, but just the fat man.
You might like it there. It's obviously the type of government you like and the whole country is a shithole. Why it'll be like you never left home.

You know nothing of the "type of government" I like, I doubt you'd even take the time too find out.

Yep , if they were deported or in Prison or on death row would be more acceptable
Or they became decent adults because they were brought up properly and taught properly, and taught how to bring up the next generation properly too.

The only European countries I've visited are Spain and Portugal. The one thing I noticed was a much slower pace of life. People would just hang in public squares for hours just chit chatting or dancing to impromptu music.
Europe is willing to give people time off to live their lives
More vacation time, time for family, maternity leave, early retirement

The dollar has better purchasing power than the pound sterling meaning one can get more in the US for 1 dollar than someone in the UK can get for 1 pound. One also can make more money in a lot of careers in the US than they can in the UK. For instance, as a nurse my wife can make what a doctor gets in the NHS. For me, it would have been a lot harder to do what I have done with real estate there than it would have been here in the US.

For us, the US has been a better situation. Being older than that guy, I found his worldview a bit myopic. It basically boils down to "now that I am an adult I have the government to be my mommy and that's better." I mean he can bike everywhere and that is healthier, but trying to get 3 kids to bike everywhere with you in an urban setting would be a whole other story, and gas prices in europe tend to be right high. It is somewhat akin to me always saying I would love to have lived in NYC my whole life if I were single. I wouldn't want to raise a family there.

So, I guess if I lived out in some small village in England, maybe I would think the quality of life could be slightly better when measured over my whole life because of the early retirements and benefits, but then again, maybe not. I kind of like the not knowing.

Here's a video from an American who's lived in London for 13 years.

He makes a good argument as to why Europe is better than the US for living in.

A lot of what he says is there's a better quality of life in Europe. Also that in the US the government is NOT working for the people, but working for the rich.

I'd agree with everything he says.

Obviously for people who are born in the US and understand the US, there's a comfort about living in their home country they might not get elsewhere. But for a comparison of a British person in Britain and an American in America, maybe it's better in the UK.

And, he says, all countries have their problems. The UK still have the FPTP political system, it's not great. Better than the US's but still deeply flawed. He does not say Europe is perfect. Just better.

My son lived in London for 10 years and was happy he was transferred back to the US. He got to travel the world and realized how much better America was over many countries.

You will pay more in taxes in Europe, have poor health care, high energy costs, a lower living standard and if youre not wealthy to begin with you never will be. The food is good

You think Europe 150 years ago is the same as today?

Trust me, were they to live in Europe today, and have a choice of going to the US 150 years ago, they'd stay in Europe.

Yeah, if money is your only goal, then the US might be better.

Healthcare is better in Europe if you're poor than in the US if you're poor.

People are more likely to escape not being wealthy, as education is more equal.

Then you should go to countries that value what you value.

The US worker has bought into the American Work ethic.

Work long hours, weekends, minimal vacations, afraid to call in sick

The American worker feels guilty for asking for time off to be with their family, have a baby, enjoy a weekend

Prague is tempting. Good gun laws. Good cost of living. Full ability to travel throughout Europe. NOT 105 DEGREES IN THE SUMMER!
