Americans have killed almost million of their own citizens in the question of sovereignity of states and kill hundreds of thousands of their own citizens every year in the name of "freedom". Americans see it as lesser evil, Iranians, as far as I know, also see it as quite acceptable losses. Lose of the freedom and sovereignity (like in Iraq scenario) will definitely kill much more.
