What you are doing is trying desperately to provide moral and legal cover to bigots and homophobes who are, in fact, trying desperately to create further divisions by making Gay Americans second class citizens. If such a thing as the vaunted "Free Market" existed, we might have the opportunity to study the effects.I'You equate not wanting to participate in something as equal to hate. Just like you confuse tolerance with acceptance.
it's not up to you or government to decide a person's morals. I wonder how you would react if government did it to you.
Probably hem and haw like a whiny little child.
d err on the side of equality.
Maybe the bigots could dust off some of the old "WHITES ONLY" signs just to write "OPPOSITE SEX COUPLES ONLY" on the reverse. The sentiment is the same, the ham handed rationalizations are the same. Only the victims have been changed.
Only in your mind.
The big difference you have to note is that more than likely a "whites only" establishment would go out of business rapidly. A wedding photographer who only wants to work opposite sex weddings would probably have far less of an issue.
But the market isn't free by any stretch of the imagination. Merchants are refusing service to clientele who have the means and the need for services. So much for market opportunity.
If they piss off enough people, they go out of business, especially these small specialty businesses.
You are not going to see McDonalds, Target, or Best Buy enact any of these policies. What we are trying to protect is small business owners right to sell what they want to who they want.
What you want is government mandated acceptance of any social more that progressives think is A-OK.
It isn't freedom if people who disagree with you are not allowed to be free. It isn't liberty when liberty is defined only in support of lifestyles you approve of. And your solution is to turn religious Americans into 2nd class citizens, and do it through government action.
