"...Any time it wants...", what are our troops still doing there?

In a statement on Saturday, Nouri al-Maliki said, "...Iraqi forces are capable and American troops can leave 'any time they want.' "

This when Bush has repeatedly stated "We’re not leaving so long as I’m the president." The premise here being that our forces will remain in Iraq until Bush can dump the problem in someone else's lap. But that's been Bush's M.O. for most of his adult life...Make a mess and let someone else clean it up.

So, why are our troops still there? Bush can bring them home "any time" he likes, so why isn't he doing so?

We are staying because the president and Cheney wants is to stay. It is for Halliburton contracts. It is for us to have easy access to oil in that region. We are staying so that the Republican Party can pay back contributions from defense contractors. It is also a campaign strategy for 2008 if Bush can carry the war on to Election Day. It is probably for various other reasons too.

There's no reason to stay there in force, if the Iraqis are ready to keep the peace. We should begin redeploying.

Wow. Quite a stretch, even for you, Bully. al-Maliki makes a comment yesterday and you're wondering why all US troops haven't been pulled out of Iraq by today?

Maybe this belongs in humor ....:eusa_think:
