I really wish my dad would have saved Mickey mantles Hank Aaron's but he didn't. We got rookies from 1978 and up. George Bret Ken griffey Jr Roger Clemens etc. All in brand new mint condition. I saw Roger Clemens had a $1800 rookie card. Is there any cards worth more than that?

I have a Billy Martin rookie card.

Even if we sold everything for half I think we have hundreds of thousands of dollars in cards.

when i was a kid we used to put mantle and mays cards cloths pinned on the frame of the rear wheel so it hit the spokes and made a cool noise.....if we only knew .....

We realized it and saved everything. In fact we stopped opening the packs in the mid 80s.

We collect. Topps mostly and the first few years of Upper Deck.
You named another brand I didn't mention. I can't believe there are/were 4 brands of cards. It's a big business. But they printed too many copies in the 80's and 90s

the first few years of Upper Deck.

Those sets were really expensive.
I had a buddy he worked at a sports memorabilia place all through college. He gave me sets and sets and packs and packs of cards every week for 3 years. An entire corner of my parents basement is full of mostly unopened decks of cards. MINT. I'm hoping in 20 more years more people ruin theirs and mine will become even more rare and more valuable

Keep in mind unopened sets and packs have value as well. Think I have a wax box of '89 Donruss sitting around somewhere.

I know! That's why we didn't open them. Maybe sell them for $200 a pack if there's a chance there's a $1000 card in the pack.

Old doesn't always equal value. Depends on the years. They were really mass produced in the late '80's and '90's. Rare inserts then came into popularity. Signature cards and memorabilia cards too. Those are cards with bat or base chips and pieces of uniform. All certified as game used.

They don't list values but still interesting. A good idea of what to look for.

Didn't they black out the end of the bat when it was brought to their attention?
Yea but some slipped through. I know we have one

They sell for $25 or $30 unless it is one of the rare "error" cards. Those are worth two or three times as much. The blacked out ones are almost worthless. A couple of bucks at most.

First year of Upper Deck was the best IMO, have the full set with Ken Griffey Jr.'s Rookie Card as #1...I think my oldest complete set of TOPPS is 1969....and many complete sets of the 70s and 80s.
My brother had some from the early 60s, but sadly I think they are gone.
