Zone1 The Catholic and Morman church both oppose adoptees getting their original birth certificates

Do you know that is the case? Or are you assuming that that is the only possible reason for giving a child up for adoption.
I have two daughters. NEVER in any wildest dreams would I have gone for putting them for adoption. They were my creation +plus my wifes, and my responsibility.

So besides age, selfishness. lol
So you think "love" is not willing to better yourself for someone you "love" and created? Not willing, to the point of never seeing them again?
My original point was there’s a whole lot of reasons that women put babies up for adoption other than they detested their baby.

If you want to judge them that’s on you. I don’t have perfect information to make that judgement. I don’t judge women who abort their babies for the same reason. I’d say putting them up for adoption is better than aborting them though. So if you are good with abortion you should be good with adoption too.

My best friend had been adopted, and she made it her life's mission to meet her birth mother. Despite sealed records, she succeeded, and mailed in her request to meet her mother. The mother denied the request and requested my friend not bother her again. My friend, of course, kept on despite this which resulted in her half-brothers and sisters begging her to let the matter drop.

Do mothers have the right to remain anonymous? Do adoptees have the right to know? Whose rights trumps whose? What I know is both my friend--and her birth family--were wrecks over this.
Maybe both deserve sympathy. Some people need to know why and some people don’t want to revisit their past. She can’t make her birth mother talk to her anymore than she can stop feeling whatever it is that is driving her conviction.

You misunderstood my friend. I was talking about moms that refuse to get into contact later with the grown child.

Oh. Sorry. I don’t want to judge them. I can imagine it’s hard on them having to face the child they put up for adoption.

Catholic organizations, particularly state Catholic Conferences and Catholic Charities, have often opposed legislation granting adoptees unrestricted access to their original birth certificates. Their opposition generally centers on protecting the confidentiality of birth mothers and preventing potential increases in abortions, arguing that guaranteed anonymity is necessary.
  • Confidentiality Arguments: Catholic Charities and similar groups have argued that opening records violates the privacy promised to birth mothers and may lead them to choose abortion over adoption.
  • Legislative Action: Catholic organizations have testified against bills aimed at unsealing records, such as in Pennsylvania.
  • Varied Positions: While some Catholic entities oppose opening records, the position is not universal across all Catholic institutions, with some focus placed on specific state-level lobbying.
  • Pro-Access Voices: Some birth mothers and Catholic groups (such as Eileen McQuade’s group in CT in this article from Texas Standard) support opening records, arguing that secrecy is harmful.

This does make sense out of why two of the most pro-life churches would oppose legislation that would discourage some mothers from deciding to allow their child to be adopted vs having an abortion.

There is no right of confidentiality or privacy in adoption. The Surpreme Court of Oregon ruled there is no right of privacy and it was upheld by the US Supreme Court. Adoption has no effect on abortion.
The Catholic Church is covering up nuns who get pregnant by priests and have their baby adopted

Im fine with adoption. I just dont think they do it out of love. Detest would be closer IMO.

I’m not familiar with that legislation or its opposition. All I know is that it is more virtuous to put a baby up for adoption than it is to abort it. The first being a brave decision the second being a cowardly decision. So if birth mothers who put their babies up for adoption want to remain anonymous, we should honor that.

I can’t get past your error to use the words Catholic Church. Do you want to correct that?

Because now you are changing the subject.

And you have to wonder why I have such a poor opinion of your faith.

So the same would be true for women who abortion their babies, right?

Who do you believe detests their babies more? Women who put their babies up for adoption? Or the ones that abort them?

Im 50/50 on that. But I get your point.

The Catholic church was hiding the identity of nuns who gave birth and the priests he fathered them. This was told to me by a nun while I was in testimony in New Jersey. Women who choose to adopt never consider abortion as solution. There was Pew study and we have 20 years of evidence in states that unsealed records. I was the result of statutory rape my mother was 16 and father 24. Im glad I wasnt aborted I have 3 children and 7 grandchildren and if I was aborted they could never exist. Abortion stops more then one life.

The Catholic Church cant directly lobby the government so they use the Catholic Conference to apply political pressure. Really the same thing.

Before changing subjects, address my point.

No. It’s not the same thing. That would be like saying Judaism supports the porn industry because Jews run the porn industry.

I agree your opinions are poor but I have no idea what your point is
