The GOP House needs to pass a comprehensive immigration bill NOW which completes the border fence, requires registration and provides conditional visas to illegals without criminal records, and makes return to the U.S. after deportation a felony. Republicans have a real problem with Latinos. They can't even seem to get excited by the possibility of Puerto Rico becoming a state, if FOX News calling a 54-46% vote in favor of the move a "slim margin" is any indication. Is it because they'd have to admit that Spanish IS an American language?

This is one Conservative that is all for PR becoming a state.

However for some reason I doubt Congress will get around to this issue. It take more than just PR voting to become a state for them to actually become one. They must meet some Economic Bench marks, and Congress must approve it.

If they apply, I think they'd be a shoo-in. Are the Republicans really going to make their problems worse by blocking their admission? As long as they get the votes in Congress, the rest is merely a formality, IMO.
