Healthcare Premiums Soar

Not to your false narrative.........which is all you ever have.
I’ve lived through Obamacare. I had to pay out of pocket for everything - physical therapy, treatment for a condition I have, etc., - for the first time in my life.

Tell me: how many years were YOU on Obamacare?

I had ACA for a while before Medicare Advantage. Mine paid for things. Yes, there was some shared costs. But, it was real health insurance. It wasn't healthcare. It was health insurance purchased through an insurance company. I remember back in the 60's, all there was pretty much was catastrophic insurance. Doctor visits were easily paid for out of pocket by my parents. I had an appendicitis and the major medical (catastrophic) insurance paid for most of it. A week in the hospital. It was affordable too. As insurance companies and the government subsidies grew in medical coverage, so did the prices of doctor visits and all the medical tools and, drugs and everything. If the government pays in more, the prices will go up more. See, if we just get rid of medical insurance and keep catastrophic major medical, the whole healthcare industry would have to drastically lower prices because no one would be able to pay them.

It is the same reason that college tuition has skyrocketed. If the government agrees, unequivocally, to give loans or to subsidize services provided by for-profit colleges/companies, the prices rise as these companies see that has a blank check of sorts.

Did they then regret that they had not gotten jobs, or did they just lament how unfair America was to the unwilling to work?

Millions had jobs that didn't offer health care. You know this but will continue to persist with the false narratives like others.

So who exactly is cranking up these costs?

So who exactly is cranking up these costs?
The colleges - because the subsidized student loan program allows them to get away with it.

If there were no subsidies, colleges would be forced to lower prices. Same thing with health costs.

I’m asking specifically about healthcare.

How is insurance driving up healthcare costs?

How is insurance driving up healthcare costs?
Because when health expenses are paid by insurance, which in turn is subsidized by the government, costs skyrocket. Why? Because they can get away with it!

Health expenses NOT covered by insurance are held down in price because the providers know people will have to pay for it.

Do you leftists really have such a limited understanding of basic economics? I learned this concept in high school.

There’s quite a few problems with your statement. Let’s list them.

One, you were just complaining that ACA coverage is poor coverage, and doesn’t pay for much of anything. So it stands to reason that it can’t drive up costs because it’s not actually paying out. So you’re already contradicting yourself and having it both ways. Either coverage is too generous and driving up costs or too skimpy and making people pay out of pocket. It’s not both.

Two, this very simplistic belief would apply equally to employer based group insurance which covers far more Americans than ACA marketplace coverage. Yet, you blame it all on the ACA which is nonsensical.

Third, you clearly have no idea how insurance and providers negotiate payment schedules. It’s an adversarial market based process. Providers are incentivized to accept as much insurance as possible and insurers are incentivized to keep costs down as much as possible. They can’t just raise prices and “get away with it”. If the providers tried, they’d just be dumped from the network.

The problem is you have a limited understanding of the healthcare system but you seem to think you’re an expert.

The ACA is actually catastrophic coverage at “gold” health insurance prices. Under what other scheme would premiums be $800 or $900 a month with a deductible of $6,000 or more before you get covered?
What other scheme?

You might want to look at the part of your company’s health insurance premium you pay, and add it tothe part your employer pays.

You’ll find that it is about the same.

But you don’t write the check, so you almost certainly have no idea what. Your actual cost is.

$800 to $900 a month is very typical, BTW.

You keep singing the medical industrial complex’s song.

Every time anyone suggests anything like the single payer national health care proposal, your ilk rallies behind the insurance companies to defend your high cost health care.

And they give you the most expensive health care in the world in return.

Oh, and you ask “what other scheme?”

35 of 36 developed countries in the world pay ha;f what you pay for their scheme, universal single payer health care.

Rightvwinger have consistantly supported it.

Obamacare isn't health care. It's taxpayer funded health care for persons who aren't citizens or even legally in the Country. Why won't democrats admit to what's at the root of Hussein/care?
Your statement is completely false. 100%

Medicare and Medicaid are the most effective services at constraining costs. They have so much more negotiation authority with health systems and drug companies.

“Because they can get away with it” just demonstrates how little she knows about the topic.

ACA or "Obamacare" is a disaster. They were told it would be but they wouldn't listen. Now people are hurting.

There's nothing the left can't mess up. Absolutely nothing

My extensive hospital stay, my heart surgery, cat scans EKG’s and all my medications. Zero cost for me.

Hospital food still sucks tho

That's because someone else is picking up the tab.

Once again call your nurse over. Either that or you are too stupid to realize the ACA helps keeps medical rates down by making sure everyone has insurance. Since you are borderline senile I wouldn’t expect you to understand.
Obamacare is doing exactly what it was intended to do, including the unaffordable premiums.
It's why the Bill never had any republican's backing it. Some might call it a democrat trap.
The democrats wouldn't allow an actual 'competitive free market' solution.

It's a tax. Who said that?
