Republicans now own healthcare!

Yes, Trump and his Republican cult won the recent government shutdown battle thanks to the constant and intense pressure applied to the Democrats by the great and only Donald J Trump. By standing rigid with Mike Johnson,Trump is celebrating one of his bigliest wins!! Those horrible government subsidies, that kept Obamacare affordable and alive, have now bitten the dust. In one fell swoop Trump found the money to enable us to afford those massive tax cuts to billionaires that his "big, beautiful bill" provided.

And Trump and Republicans reward for standing tall and staring down the weak Democrats is, wait for it, Ownership of Health Care for Americans!!! Their scheme was brilliant; make Obamacare so expensive that Democrats can't afford it and it dies a natural death. Well, Trump will get to see the results of his handy work first hand, as the state with the largest number of Obamacare recipients is Florida!

Go celebrate your win Trump. You deserve it!

Bigly!!!
Why would a wonderful program that was working just fine need emergency subsidies specifically made for the Covid crisis, suddenly require those subsidies to continue or the whole thing collapses? That's what everyone needs to know.

I disagree, but not for the usual reasons of our Leftist looney tuners here.
Nation standards of education, training and procedures are essential and part of the Federal Government role in Medical Care.
However I'll agree that Federal Government is not the agency that should be sole (or major) provider of Medical Care.
Please show me the SPECIFIC LINE ITEM in Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution which gives Congress the power to legislate or spend money on health, medicine, or anything of the sort.

A potential role for government in healthcare would be to foot the bill for diagnostic services. They are relatively low cost, could easily apply to the entire population, and would pay big dividends as diseases are treated much easier if they're caught sooner. That would leave catastrophic insurance to cover big problems.

There is nothing, but that ship has long sailed. Like it or not, the government is involved in our lives and won't be getting out of the way anytime soon. Too many congresscritters depend on it.

Not as long as the populace allows it. Gov't has gotten TOO MUCH power. Too many elected representatives are going through the motions and not following through. Propositions have been put on ballots and passed by the electorate only to be ignored for YEARS by legislatures. Case in point--WA state's vote to do away with the time change --- after 5 years, NOTHING has been done and elected representatives won't even talk about it anymore. SMFH. Americans deserve everything they get when they allow this.

Insurance companies do a better job on that since it is what they need to have to determine if the issue is valid and within the coverage they provide. You idea adds another layer of effort and expense and doesn't improve on quality control.

Is that why your cult is being taken over by the communists? :rolleyes-41:
That's your dear leader.

Republicans have had a decade to come up with something better and have failed.

They used to say “repeal and replace”, now they just ignore it.

Why does it need to be replaced? Just repeal it. What we had before was better.

You have failed us with your crap attempt at Healthcare. Now we are really fucked because of you. Thanks for nothing

Why are people blaming the government in 2025 for a failed government health care insurance program from 2010 that everyone who could do math knew was destined to collapse under its own unsustainable cost escalations.

Or blame the people who stuck a multi-TRILLION dollar temporary band-aid on in 2021 so the program could limp along to even greater heights of unsustainability?

Time to rip the band-aid off and admit the whole thing was a facade, a Potemkin Hospital if you were. Just another nail in the legacy of the least consequential two-term president of my lifetime. His signature legislative achievement turned out to be a complete failure.

Sweep it all away and find another way to handle the miniscule 7-9% who needed what turned out to be the UCA (Unaffordable Care Act).
