In the kind of schools the rich attend, a c student almost certainly is better educated than an a student from a normal public school. The rich demand that their kids get an excellent education from the schools they spend large amounts to send them to. Why do you think politician’s kids don’t go to public schools in DC?

College admissions should not take race, legacy, extra curricular activities or participation in athletics.

Colleges should be strictly academic. They should not be allowed to run athletic teams for profit or any other non-academic activity. The only exception being when an extracurricular activity is directly related to a particular major - like being in a high school band should be taken into account when applying to a music school.

Academically excellent students should not be displaced by academically poor athletes. If people want a career in athletics, colleges should have specific majors or be entirely devoted to athletics. I know that there are colleges devoted to athletics which should take high school athletics into account, but no non-athletic college should be allowed to do that.
