Half the country doesnt get it: Transition/Progress will require discomfort. Sorry.

Technology is advanced, sure, and you could say that over time ideas that were once seen as liberal or progressive become mainstream; there are few out there who are still, for example, arguing against women's right to vote. I wouldn't go so far as to say we are on an irresistible path to liberal ideals, however. Besides the fact that politics and national progression is rarely that smooth, it doesn't specify whose liberal ideals.

Consider this: A Clinton Democrat in 1995 could have also insisted that we were on our way to a liberal renaissance. A Johnson Democrat thirty years earlier, with the Congressional supermajority and a liberal Supreme Court, could have said the same thing. Thirty years before that, the statement could have come from a follower of FDR or of Huey Long, who was preparing a primary challenge for 1936. And before that, a follower of Republican Teddy Roosevelt could have made the same charge. None of them would have been correct.

In fact, even if we pretend it is true, I think statements like that are counter-productive. They perpetuate a combative "us vs. them" dynamic, tell everyone that you are closed to any sharing of perspectives, and shut down communication. Yes, I know they did it first, but they will say the same thing, and honestly, we're in such dire straits right now that we need people to move beyond that, not keep it going.

The Ultra MAGAs and sadly some moderates just dont get it. Here are 3 facts:
1. We, the USA, are transitioning away from fossil fuels. Period.
2. We are moving left as a nation. There will be ebbs and flows, some elections lost and setbacks. But the inevitable end result is further left, like all societies do as they advance.
3. 1 and 2 will require some discomfort. Sorry its just fact. Just like being fat requires discomfort to become healthy.

The sooner we all accept the above the better. WE are the generation that is making it happen and are willing to accept the discomfort.

1) Trying to do it by government force which has started to backfire as prices are soaring and bad battery fires make embarrassing headlines.

2) Leftism has started losing force since people have begun their shift toward the Republican party when we now suffer from skyrocketing prices due solely to leftist idiotic policies of rationing energy supplies.

3) The beatings the leftists Marxists are getting is coming this November and beyond as empty shelves like empty leftist policies are being dumped.

You are a 100% communist who fear individual freedom of thought and action you are the ENEMY of property rights that must be met with ridicule you deserve.

So what's the plan between now and 10-20 years down the road when electric cars are somewhat viable, we have enough juice on the grid...no massive electric eighteen wheelers to deliver food and products, dead EV batteries which are cheaper to junk the car than repair.

Can't wait, gimme a hit....LOL

Some struggle. Thats the plan. I admit it will be rough but we ARE doing it.

In order to 'transition' from one thing to another, you first need something viable to transition to. So far, no viable alternatives to fossil fuel exist.

As to moving left, that will take care of itself. Stupid liberals have no concept of moderation and always push too far. The backlash is coming.

No backlash is going to stop the inevitable. Every civilization on Earth has either moved left, or collapsed into anarchy. Europe, left. Asia, left. America is a relatively young nation. But we will end up left just like Europe. And thats a good thing.

The United States has had the luxury of being in a good location. That luxury is declining.

Electricity can come from different sources.
If you want non-polluting, non-fossil fuel-based electricity, you have Hydro: the environmentalists refuse to allow any more dams to be built so that's out. Nuclear: the environmentalists refuse to allow any new reactors to be built and are pushing for existing ones to be decommissioned, so that's out. Solar: low efficiency and only works part of the time, so that's not practical. Wind: even lower efficiency due to losses in moving parts and works even less of the time, so that's not practical.

1. We, the USA, are transitioning away from fossil fuels. Period.

By what measure is this transition happening? The world is producing and using more fossil fuels than ever before. Sure, we should be adding more solar and wind to augment our grid but by no means is the planet ready to move away from fossil fuel being the main source of energy.

Adapt or die.

Sounds like wishful thinking if you ask me. At 62 years old I have heard the left saying the same thing you are: The Republicans are a dying breed; old rich white guys, they will be gone soon. People are going liberal. It must be true since I've been hearing it for over 40 years. :eusa_shhh:

The thing is you leftists hate America. You're always talking about all these better places, but never move to one yourself to try it out for a while. So why don't you? No sense waiting around here for something likely not to happen. You can move to one of these so-called wonderful places, and if it's not what you thought it was going to be, you can always move back to the good ole USA. But once you change this place and find out it was a raw deal, there won't be another USA to move to. It will be gone forever. There is only one United States of America.

Yes, we are a young country. And in the short time we've been one we created the wealthiest, strongest country on planet earth.

They're all liars.

The thing about socialism is you can vote yourself into it, but you have to shoot your way out.
Thus, the "progressive" movement towards the elimination of the right to keep and bear arms.

Fortunately, there will be a collapse before we reach this point, and this "progressive" nonsense will be shit-canned,

Biden is merely leading us into the first big push through. He wont be able to do it all himself in one presidency. We’ll need 2-3 more presidents probably, and the dummies who resist may elect another Trump or GOP president to slow progress, but, it’s inevitable and I find peace in that.
according to your logic if its announced in a few yrs they will have a cure for diabetes then diabetics should stop or cut back on the insulin they are taking immediately .

Fuck you, Trump is gonna fix this mess in 2025. Why don't you volunteer now and get off the grid?

I love it!
Finally found an individual at whom I might point a finger, shout "BANG" and it will fall over dead.
No bullet.
No trace.
But one less progressive!

If we go her way, you wouldn't want to get surgery. Hate for a blackout to happen then. Already predicting blackouts here in South Carolina, first time in my 52 years here. Thanks Biden.
