The NCAA championship game was played the night of that shooting. There was consideration for postponement but they played it anyway.
The following day, a Washington Post sports columnist (I think it was Ken Denlinger) criticized the NCAA for going through with the game. His column headline was The President Lies Bleeding and Fools Play Games.
