"Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that Texas would consider challenging a 1982 U.S. Supreme Court decision requiring states to offer free public education to all children, including those of undocumented immigrants. Abbot said "the Supreme Court ruled against us on the issue. ... I think we will resurrect that case and challenge this issue again, because the expenses are extraordinary and the times are different" -- The remarks came days after a leaked draft of the forthcoming U.S. Supreme Court opinion."

Now, this may not be as good as overturning Brown vs Board, but it is a very good start....Most Texans (at least the real Texans) won't mind denying free education to a bunch of dirty wetback kids who can't even speak the language -- but the bonus is, it may allow states to discriminate based on race, but in a good way....As many had predicted with the overturning of Roe V Wade; that was never the ultimate goal...the ultimate goal was always what it was before Roe V Wade was ever thought about -- the goal is to return the country as far back as possible in the pursuit of holding on to the white patriarchy....or as Conservatives call it, back when America was great.

That fear of losing their hegemonic grip on power in this ever progressing country has been the chief motivating factor in how Conservatives turn out their base to vote for decades....which is why they no longer campaign on ACTUAL policies, but campaign on that fear....Just ask yourself, what is a Conservative platform policy that doesn't involve doing something to some other group that Conservatives don't like? Doing something "TO PEOPLE" is a far more motivating factor than doing something "FOR PEOPLE" -- if you are a conservative.....and their policies show it.

Another who wants to go after the children as opposed to doing anything at all about the reason people come here in the first place.

School kids don't fill his campaign coffers.

The original ruling was a ridiculous interpretation of the fourteenth amendment and it set a terrible precedent of making a government benefit effectively a constitutionally protected right for anyone on US soil - even illegals. A Cloward-Piven wet dream. What could go wrong with that? It's overdue to be challenged.

The Prog dominated Teachers Union can help out by having their salaries and benefits reduced to lower the costs to the taxpayers. For the money spent we are not getting proper results.

We see examples of that here everyday.

They have no Constitutional obligation to pay to educate children from parents who are here illegally.
You & your fellow lefties are welcome to start a charity to pay for it if you find it so offensive.
Forcing the taxpayers to pay for everything from educating the world to protecting the world is one of the reasons we are over $30 trill in debt.
You'll have to excuse us if we don't agree to speed down the Cloward/Piven path to the destruction of our country, though you lefties with RINO allies may have already guaranteed it to happen

The runt governor of Texass had better get rid of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

How wrong do you have to be to not realize how wrong you are?

The Constitution clearly makes immigration a Federal issue. This isn't like the right to privacy, it is clear.

With that being the case a state is unable to determine who is here legally or illegally.

Besides, how is the country better off by sending the children of their workforce home to be alone?

Sadly that is true but a highly bipartisan issue.

I can tell you are ignorant of the Constitution.
Yes, oh wise Moonglow, please enlighten me with your vast knowledge.
Maybe you can explain how the Constitution gives women a right to commit infanticide & obligates our taxes to pay anything for illegal aliens?

Texas should declare itself a Republic again and secure their border.....Or, they could just go after employers of illegals. Fat chance of either....TX likes it's serf class....Trouble is the "serfs" and liberal transplants are outnumbering them now.....I saw it coming a mile away.

What should we do to address the reason people come herein the first place?

Are you talking "nation building"?
The only time that has worked is when we destroyed them first.

No, that isn't what I was talking about but your argument is no better than one that might have been presented by Jefferey Dahmer or Ted Bundy.

Cut the reasons off.
The reasons are the economic success and opportunities for success uniquely available in the US, combined with our full array of welfare benefits which are available to Anyone who gets here on time to give birth to one of their babies.

Which should we cut off first?

Wrong, illegals are NOT eligible for welfare benefits. This has been covered over and over and over and over.

If their kid is born here that makes them a citizen and they are eligible for limited benefits but it's not anything a family could survive on. To do that it takes jobs, something you skipped right over.
