Since my arrival on this forum, I have said hundreds of times that I morally supported overturning Roe v. Wade. But I also said doing so would have no impact on the number of abortions in America.

Since the Dobbs decision, my prediction has been born out, no pun intended. In fact, the number of abortions has increased since the Dobbs decision. The pro-life movement won the battle, but has lost the war.

Perhaps this will finally, finally, finally bring the pro-life extremists to their senses and start supporting measures which will actually reduce the number of abortions. In other words, we need to focus on contraception education.

Half of all abortions are the result of no form of contraception being used during intercourse which led to the unwanted pregnancy.

Another fifth are the result of the improper or inconsistent use of birth control.

Imagine the impact if we properly directed our energy at the actual solution to the abortion problem.

It's all about pragmatism over the irrational. We have let the extremists dominate the narrative with the end result of tens of millions of preventable abortions.

Personally, yes. That's MY choice. But I've also gone to the hospital to support friends who were having an abortion, and taken care of them after.

Everyone I know who has had an abortion, has said they would never want to have another one, but it was the right thing to do at the time. Knowing their circumstances, I'm grateful I was never in a position to have to make a choice. Just waiting out the result of the amnio-centisis test really hard, but the news was good.

I want abortion to be unnecessary, but fully available. I want every child to be wanted, and cherished. They're doomed if they aren't because life is tough enough all on its own.

When our Supreme Court overturned Canadian abortion laws, I marched at the head of the Pro-Choice march, holding the banner, 6 months pregnant. Because I was carrying a little girl, and I wanted her to have the same choices I had.

If you believe abortion is wrong, don't have one. That's your choice.
