Since my arrival on this forum, I have said hundreds of times that I morally supported overturning Roe v. Wade. But I also said doing so would have no impact on the number of abortions in America.

Since the Dobbs decision, my prediction has been born out, no pun intended. In fact, the number of abortions has increased since the Dobbs decision. The pro-life movement won the battle, but has lost the war.

Perhaps this will finally, finally, finally bring the pro-life extremists to their senses and start supporting measures which will actually reduce the number of abortions. In other words, we need to focus on contraception education.

Half of all abortions are the result of no form of contraception being used during intercourse which led to the unwanted pregnancy.

Half.

Another fifth are the result of the improper or inconsistent use of birth control.

Imagine the impact if we properly directed our energy at the actual solution to the abortion problem.

It's all about pragmatism over the irrational. We have let the extremists dominate the narrative with the end result of tens of millions of preventable abortions.

Abortion Trends Before and After Dobbs

  • In the three years since the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, the total number of abortions nationally has slightly increased. The most recent data from the Society for Family Planning’s #WeCount project show that the average monthly abortion volume during the first half of 2025 was higher than the monthly average in 2024. From January to June 2025, there have been more than 590,000 abortions compared to 1.14 million abortions in all of 2024 and 1.06 million abortions in 2023. For most of the decade prior to the Dobbs ruling, there was a steady decline in abortion rates nationally, with a slight uptick in the years just before the ruling.

.

I noted overturning RvW wasn't going to stop abortions also. I've also argued for programs to either stop unwanted pregnancies or help a woman decide to not abort.

(Now let the crazy begin)

But the Left said that overturning Roe would end all of our abortion rights, which is why the Left tried to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh for helping to overturn it.

You mean they lied their arse off again?

The hell you say!

So, with business booming at Planned Parenthood, like never before, it is a real head scratcher why the government wants to start funding them again, even with GOP support, isn't it.

Neither party really ever wanted to end abortion. There is simply too much money in it as it is a billion-dollar industry.

I also believe that the powers that be are focused on population control in both parties. If one understands this, then the rest of the policies coming out of the Swamp make a whole lot more sense, such as pushing gender confusion on children and having them begin the process of changing genders so as to sterilize them. Or you may wonder why the government seemingly turns a blind eye to Americans overdosing on drugs coming across the US border to the tune of 200 plus Americans a day, while focusing on other "threats" to Americans around the world with constant drone strikes on these alleged terrorists.

Funny, I don't think there is another terrorist alive around the world that kills about 200 Americans a day, yet those drones are never used to target those drug cartel people.

Abortions, both clinical and medical are decreasing. This is great news. You can often change minds and hearts by simply restricting access. Drinking was indeed reduced during prohibition, contrary to popular belief. It didn’t fully revive until the 1950s. Abortion will be the same and is trending that way. The Dobbs decision was a great victory. Banning birth control should be next. See, when you ban an evil act, people begin to see that it’s evil. Whereas if society gives its blessing, people will believe it’s morally OK.

We also see a trend where church attendance is rising , especially among young people. This is related to Dobbs. These things work together. It also corresponds to Trump and MAGA. Things are improving, though the left wants you to believe the sky is falling.

Dobbs was correct.

It is a states rights issue.

Now mothers in CALIFORNIA can murder their babies at birth. No limits.

You lefty phucks should be celebrating. YOU HAVE MORE FREEDOM. Before Dobbs, the mean FED took away womens rights in California.

Now the fed is not meddling.

Clinically and medically provided abortions in US physical facilities dropped by 5% in the first half of 2025, marking the first decline since the Dobbs decision, according to Guttmacher Institute data. This decline is heavily driven by 6-week bans, especially in states like Florida, and a shift toward telehealth and out-of-state virtual care. While in-clinic, formal care decreased, telehealth abortion has increased.

Yes, fewer abortions at clinics BUT more through the mail.

Bravo.......I guess.

That's incorrect. Medical abortions have also fallen, per the link.

Trump's America is reducing abortions, going to church more, and becoming more prosperous. This is what common sense leadership is all about.

Abortions have not decreased. Reading comprehension isn't your strong point. Telehealth abortions are still medical abortions.

Women now do not have the ban on abortions after a certain number of weeks.

Abortion in California is legal up to the point of fetal viability. After viability, it remains legal when a physician determines that continuing the pregnancy would threaten the life or health of the pregnant person.

NO LIMITS IN CALIFORNIA.

DOBBS IS AMAZING FOR BABY KILLERS.

If you want to kill your baby, just go to Cali.

I think you misunderstand the motives of your fellow "pro-life" people.

It was never about "saving the babies", it was about "Putting those uppity women in their place!"

Obviously, if you wanted to reduce the number of abortions, the way to go about that is

1) Increased availability of other contraceptives
2) Better sex education
3) Stronger social programs
4) Paid family leave
5) Universal Health Care.

France has only 60% of the abortions per capita than we do. Not because they've limited abortion. In fact, the government PAYS for abortions. But they do all the other things to prevent unplanned pregnancies or to make unplanned pregnancy less of an impact than it would normally be.

But for the Anti-Abortion Crowd, they don't like women having sex outside of marriage for reasons other than making babies.

You lefty phucks should LOVE DOBBS.

NO MORE LIMITS BY THE EVIL FED.

Corporal Dobbs was pretty funny on F Troop.
Do you think that a 14 year old girl should be forced to have Uncle Louie`s baby?

This is such a non issue.

No one has taken away rights from women to murder their babies.

You lefties would be better served to cry about Medicaid and Medicare fraud. That is a federal concern,

I linked it in post #8. Reading comprehension isn't your strong point. Both clinical and medical abortions are trending down.

And it says telehealth abortions are up. So much easier to just have a prescription called in.

Telehealth abortions are medical abortions.

Telehealth abortions are medical abortions.
But medical abortions are down and overall abortions are down. That is the important point.
