God Damn !! - Maus banned in Tennnessee for curse words like "God damn!!"

What kind of a hateful anti-Semitic author depicts Jews as rats?

8 curse words and a drawing of a NAKED female mouse.

Its not the end of the world but it is a signpost on the way. One of the board commented that there was a lot of unpleasant stuff in the Pulitzer Prize winning book. There must be a way to depict the Holocaust without subjecting the kids to unpleasentness.

Its easy to mock these people but I am sure they are genuinely doing what they think is best for the kids. But really.....................
It seems someone is always wanting to ban this or that book for one reason or another. Here are a small list of books that have banned from various libraries over the last few years.

To Kill a Mockingbird
Of Mice and Men
The Hate U Give
1984 by George Orwell
Catcher and the Rye
The Holy Bible
The Koran

Every school board in the US sets, and has the legal right to set, the curriculum of the school system that they have been elected to serve. Setting curriculum and providing materials that are consistent with the desires of the school system's parents is NOT censorship nor book banning.

You fucking hypocrite.

lol...

You're all for censorship when it is someone you disagree with as your support for FB, Twitter and YouTube have demonstrated

FB is evil. twitter is nonCONsequential to me, & tubers are only good for music & music reactions...

--but let someone introduce profanity in the literature of a public school and the school board object and then it is all about book burning.

you mean like this?

Virginia school board members call for books to be burned amid GOP's campaign against schools teaching about race and sexuality

  • Two VA school board members called for burning books that have been deemed worthy of removal.
  • The Spotsylvania County School Board directed staff to begin removing "sexually explicit" books from library shelves.
  • The GOP has been pushing against teaching students about race and sexuality.

sieg heil y'all!

I've seen how much you object to censorship when someone calls you that magic "C" word--but "OH, THAT'S DIFFERENT" Run along hypocrite.

no you haven't. when that does happen, i just lol ... much like i am doing right now...

lol....

@ y-o-u.

Sorry hypocrite, censorship is censorship, if you embrace it once, you embrace it all--commie.

Like democrats removing historical statues because the history they reflect makes you uncomfortable? LMAO--yep more hypocrisy. BTW, the OP does not suggest banning or burning books. For your information--Every school board in the US sets, and has the legal right to set, the curriculum of the school system that they have been elected to serve. Setting curriculum and providing materials that are consistent with the desires of the school system's parents is NOT censorship nor book banning. Try again.

Blah blah if they are morons then their kids will be morons too.

But it's OK for FB, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube to ban people for saying "Face Masks Do Not Work" You're a moron and I'm glad you're stuck on that little island.
And Twitter is also ok with an entire arena absolutely full of explicit pornography. I know. When I was still a Twatter user, I got sent via a link to the Twatter porn pages. I took a look around. I’ve seen better porn, but not on a site that will ban you for agreeing with others on disputed political and factual claims.

Didn't we kick those Brit bastards out of the U.S. in two wars in the 18th and early 19th century and then save their sorry ungrateful asses from German invasion in the 20th century? What the hell is the Brit "Guardian" doing analyzing a freaking Tennessee state issue? Doesn't the "guardian" have enough to do analyzing the corrupt British monarchy?

When you Ban a books from a library, that is the ultimate in censorship. You're are right every school has the right to remove books from their library are refuse to shelve them just as everyone else has the right to criticize them for doing so.

When you mix science and politics the result is usually junk science.

Face masks, especially cloth face masks, offer little protection against COVID-19. In a free society people should be able to disagree with official pronouncements from the government without censorship. ,

I already know you're a moron, like I told your parrot, maybe you don't understand the relationship of censorship to censorship. Decorum is why it is unreasonable in an educational environment.
So it's wrong to use a cuss word in school, but it's okay to convince little boys to question why they have a dinger when they are only 5 years old. I'd rather kids get a real education and learn why the far left should be loaded into rockets and blasted into the sun.

I honestly don't think that controlling the curriculum and materials for EIGHTH GRADERS, THIRTEEN YEAR OLDS can be compared to banning books from a public library. To compare the two is asinine. We are not talking about Huck Finn or Anne Frank here, we're talking about a profane account of a serious heinous event that is being made light of. Where was your disdain when the historical statues of American history were removed because someone was offended. For crying out loud, get real.

One is as bad as the other. We're not discussing juniors or seniors in high school you are talking about kids that have not all reached puberty. You, rightfully object to degenerate, unnatural acts being taught, but in the same breath advocate for something that is just as bad.

Masks were an analogy. The thread is about introducing a profane caricature of an heinous historical event to thirteen year old, eighth graders in a public school. No wonder we have a country that is so fucked up with mental midgets like this attempting to confuse the youth under the guise of education. SMFH.

I started thinking about great works of literature that would be banned under these constraints and I immedialtey started with Vanity Fair. Infidelity and bad language. The book also shows the wicked characters as being a lot more fun than the strict moralists who aremocked for their hypocrisy.

Tom Jones - Where do you start. Sex, profanity on every other page. Tom thinks he has been shagging his Mam for many chapters. It would cause an explosion in Tennessee.

Paradise Lost - Satan as an heroic figure ? Really ?

The Alchemist - The language is fucking disgusting in this one and very funny.

Noddy and Big Ears get Arrested - Noddy knocks a policemans helmet off his head.

I do think that this nonsense is part of the growing rejection of "experts" that has increased with the conspiracy theory moveent in modern society. Parents believe that they know better than their childs Doctor so knowing more than their teachers is a small step to take.

So we end up with a community bound up by the limitations of those parents who could not escape to a good job in New York and determined that their kids do not move a step forward from their own shadows. Its a recipe for failure.

There is no relationship at all between the two things. You are just desperate to deflect.
Au contraire Mont Freire.

Do you see now how to free speech works, you British subject no-rights-having piece of shit?

It's easy to defend free speech you agree with or you do not have reason to object to. The tough call for anyone dedicated to liberty is defending speech you hate.

You don't care if somebody says goddamnit, but you lose your fucking shit when anyone says anything that you unilaterally deem "misinformation."

You fail in all fucking categories, you piece of fucking shit. Why don't you just focus on your own bullshit, conquered, weaselly little Cymru kingdom, now ass fucked by your current monarch, and get the fuck off our boards?

Nope. There is no relationship. But I note your bizarre attempt to protect my free speech with your foul mouthed rant. Did your parents teach you to speak like that ?

Well, we're getting off topic, but I have to respond to that. Back in April 2020, Fauci made it quite clear that the masks we wore at that time, cloth masks offered little protection for the wearer but protected others. The CDC also put this on their web pages. And someone spread the slogan, "I wear a mask for you and you wear a mask for me."

Today with N95 masks and KN95 readily available the CDC is asking people to wear them because they fit snuggly and force both inhalations and exhalations to go through the filter material thus protecting both the wearer and others. I have my doubts that many people will wear them even though the goverment is making them available for free. They are just too uncomfortable and require adjustment every time they go on. And when you put them on the cords get tangled in glasses and mess up your hair and or hat.
In regard to politics, all epidemics that effect a whole country are political. There is no way to avoid it.
