Winter storm warning: Up to 12 inches of snow slams Idaho and Montana as summer freeze hits​

The Northern Rockies are getting a blast of January in the last week of June. A slow-moving storm is dropping wet, heavy snow on the high country of central Idaho and southwest Montana right now, and the mountain passes that funnel summer traffic toward Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier are taking the brunt of it. The National Weather Service in Missoula has a Winter Storm Warning in effect above 6,500 feet, and the heaviest snow is falling Sunday into Monday morning.
