Does the USA need more socialism or less socialism?

There is no such thing as free government health care, so not sure what you're talking about here.
Yes there is free healthcare under the ACA for those citizens or non-citizens who do not earn their own wages and do not pay for their own healthcare insurance.

In the U.S. corporations have joined at the hip with our politicians to rule our lives. Is that socialism or capitalism? Or both? It is certainly collectivism. Perhaps even a modern form a feudalism. Perhaps it's time for us to move on from being railroaded through these black&white comparisons and "for-us-or-against-us" ultimatums. We're being cultivated and used as a consumer herd. Both corporations AND politicians are working together and benefitting from it. It's BEYOND "socialism vs capitalism" at this point. They don't want us to see that we've outgrown this divisive lie.

Is there a song called where have the idiots gone, they joined the Democrat party?

You need to define socialism, before we can properly debate it.

To me, socialism means having a safety net for when bad things strike and people need help. For example, disability benefits, unemployment benefits. It also means we as a society should take care of the most vulnerable members of our society, before we start to let the capitalists hoard all the wealth. I believe that socialism can co-exist together with capitalism, we just need to make sure all the money doesn't all get concentrated in a few hands.

No society is exclusively capitalist or exclusively socialist

Some functions are best done as a society others are best left to the free market

Before Obama the government took care of the poor with tax receipts. After Obamacare the productive Americans were forced to pay higher taxes disguised as healthcare premiums in order to subsidize government care for the non-productive citizens.
Compassionate nations provide healthcare for the poor
