Does the USA need more socialism or less socialism?

No, I'm condemning Conservatives.

Opposition to the CRA was across ideological lines, not partisan ones.

Why is this so hard for people to grasp? The parties are polarized today, but weren't in 1964.

Conservatives voted against the CRA, and there were Conservatives in both parties, get it? There aren't Conservatives in both parties today, just one.

This has nothing to do with which party voted for it, it has to do with which ideology voted for it. Yeesh. Sometimes I feel like people are deliberately stupid because their minds are so shallow.
Your definition of conservative must be rather unique because I have never heard it before.

You have yet to articulate how it has been a disaster. The best you can do is whine about freedumb or whatever, but you ignore the facts like how the ACA slowed the growth of premiums, eliminated the Part-D donut hole, established 14 base care minimums for every plan, capped deductibles, and extended insurance coverage to ~20-30M people who didn't have it.

The ACA also made it affordable for independent contractors to get coverage, or workers whose companies did not provide insurance benefits.

So what was the disaster?
The premiums higher earners paid were neither slowed nor lowered. I am opposed to the government telling its citizens they are required to buy a product tht the government uses a sliding scale to set the price of.

How did it run out?

How much money did the ACA use to "prop up"? Actual costs, not imagined ones.

Duration of Government Subsidies for Obamacare

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), signed into law on March 23, 2010, created a system of federal subsidies for health insurance purchased through ACA marketplaces. These subsidies — primarily the premium tax credit — have been in place for over 16 years as of 2026.

    How long they’ve been running

    • The ACA’s major provisions began taking effect in 2014, but the subsidy programs were already in place earlier, starting with small business tax credits in 2010 and the premium tax credit for individuals in 2014 Wikipedia+1.
    • The subsidies have been continuously funded since enactment, with periodic adjustments through legislative changes and court rulings Wikipedia+1.
    • In 2025, the expansions of the premium tax credit under the ACA are set to expire, and lawmakers will need to decide whether to extend them Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
    • Scale of the subsidies
    • In 2023, federal subsidies for ACA Marketplace coverage were estimated at $1.8 trillion, or about 7% of GDP Congressional Budget Office+1.
    • This includes both direct spending on subsidies and related programs like the Basic Health Program insuranceinformant.com.
    • Key points
    • The subsidies have been a core part of the ACA’s mission to make health insurance more affordable for millions of Americans.
    • They have been extended multiple times through legislation and administrative changes, but their future beyond 2025 is uncertain without congressional action Peter G. Peterson Foundation.
    • In summary:
The government has subsidized Obamacare (ACA) health insurance for over 16 years, since 2010, with the subsidy programs fully operational for more than a decade and still in effect in 2026, pending possible future changes.

Trump bragged about how he can just grab women by the pussies
Now has to pay $100 million because he did it
Democrats glory in sexual promiscuity and perversion yet pretend to be more righteous than Trump because Trump said something dirty decades ago when in a group of guys.

Yes they did slow. The rates at which the premiums grew after ACA were slower than before it.

OK, so there's nothing about the plans that you can say you liked. So it's just you whining.

When you go without insurance, that is what drives up premiums for everyone else. Because we all have to pay your difference. When you get your care without insurance, those costs get passed onto the people who DO have insurance.

So the termination of the subsidies is a political decision, not a financial one.

Of course the program will run out of money if you stop funding it.

Duh.

So you're telling me that the GOP isn't the Conservative Party but the Liberal one?
I don't know whether republicans are conservative or liberal according to your unique classifications and unusual definitions.

Belief That Obamacare Forced Americans to Pay for Others’ Coverage

Yes — many Americans, especially those who did not qualify for subsidies, believed they were being unfairly burdened by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) because they were forced to pay for coverage that others received for free.

The ACA’s individual mandate originally required most Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty, which critics saw as the federal government forcing people to buy a private product

Free government healthcare will never be free for those workers from whose taxes are increased to cover the costs incurred by the poor or lazy.

Well if you don't know that, then you're not paying attention and are pretty clueless.

BELIEVE they were being unfairly burdened. You can believe whatever you want, but you have to accept facts sooner or later.

So by paying for health insurance you are paying for other people's health insurance? Nothing you are saying makes any sense.

There is no such thing as free government health care, so not sure what you're talking about here.

Before Obama the government took care of the poor with tax receipts. After Obamacare the productive Americans were forced to pay higher taxes disguised as healthcare premiums in order to subsidize government care for the non-productive citizens.

Why did Obamacare have to have IRS enforcement to back up the mandated healthcare/tax imposed on productive American citizens so healthcare could be provided for non-productive citizens and non-citizens?
