A Quinnipiac University poll released Dec. 22 found a wider margin of disapproval, with 53 percent of respondents opposed to healthcare overhaul and 36 percent in favor.

"While the Senate leadership reportedly has the votes to pass a health care overhaul plan this week, outside the Beltway there appears to be weak support, both to what voters understand as the plan, and the need to pass that plan now," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Insitute.

I think it is beyond that.

This is the proverbial "foot in the door". The left has hoped for greatly expanding the welfare state as that ensures an increase in Democrat voters. How long have they utilized "The Republicans want to take your social security?" during elections?

They hope to now be able to add health care to the long list of entitlement programs that people then assume is a right to be protected at all cost.

The latest Rasmussen Reports weekly tracking update shows that 41% of voters nationwide favor the bill and 55% are opposed. Those figures are essentially unchanged from a week ago. This the fifth straight week with support for the legislation between 38% and 41%.

Among senior citizens, the group most likely to use the health care system, just 33% are in favor while 60% are opposed. Most adults under 30 favor the plan, but majorities of every other age group take the opposite view.

The intensity remains with those who oppose the legislation. Just 19% Strongly Favor the plan while 45% are Strongly Opposed.

Polling released last week showed that 57% of voters say passing nothing would be preferable to passing the current legislation. Most voters (54%) believe they personally will be worse off if the legislation passes.

Yes. Once those in the younger age brackets get a look at what they will be paying for the healthcare they will be forced to buy they will be screaming like stuck pigs. One graph I saw said they will be paying more than anyone.

Being in the majority doesnt seem to carry much weight anymore. Look at the Dems. They have the majority in both the House and Senate and Reid still has to resort to bribery to get his 60 votes.

This clusterfuck isn't passed yet and with any luck some of these Clowns will come to their senses and not vote for it. God. Hope does spring eternal.

We, the taxpayers, will be paying for this peice of shit for 4 years before it kicks in. It will add 2 Trillion dollars to the deficit in 10 years. What a giant clusterfuck this is gonna be if it passes. Bush's tax cuts will expire in 2010 and taxes will be going up. Of course this bill is full of hidden gems. Taxes among em I'm sure. Oh yeah. The Clowns in DC looked out for themselves by exempting themselves and Govt workers from this primo plan. Oh yeah. They are looking out for us big time.

So many don't even know that one crucial point. Taxes will go up immiediately, while the actual insurance coverage takes almost a half decade to kick in. It is the most crucial component of the accounting trick used to help sell the bill.
