Respect for the actions of the president has nothing to do with the fact that the living conditions in the U.S. have been among the best for decades. The U.S. has always been seen as the land of opportunity where freedom exists. That it declined under Trump is not a big deal. The U.S. is still better than Venezuela, San Salvador, Columbia and even China.
