You take pride in the Haiti Revolution but leave a few key points out. The British were integral to getting the French out, both directly and indirectly. Napoleon was busy fighting the British in Egypt at the time of this insurrection, and that the British were there making a Naval Blockade to help the Haitians. Also, the French were already beaten by Yellow Fever before the attacks by Dessalines.

You have heroic drawings of Dessalines but leave out the fact that he names himself emperor for Life and decided to KEEP slavery going in Haiti. Dessalines was murdered by his own people less than 2 years after winning independence from France for being No different than the French. The man responsible for the revolt against Dessalines was Henri Christophe who, himself decided to Slavery was a good thing, and killed 20,000 fellow Blacks in forced labor camps. There is STILL slavery in Haiti today!

We know what the USA did after independence from Europe—but what did Haiti do?

After over 200 years of black rule there is little to impress. A United Nations report recently said that Haiti may soon be incapable of supporting human life.

Many Haitian children are fed exclusively by aid from the U.S. and the U.N. and Haiti gets by far the biggest slice of U.S. aid in the Western Hemisphere (20 percent).

Learn history—many White people arrived here as slaves, both conscripted in the military or as labor slaves. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white. It is well recorded that African slaves, not tainted with the stain of the hated Catholic theology and more expensive to purchase, were often treated far better than their Irish counterparts. Free black people could even "own" the services of white indentured servants in Virginia as well.

More White Europeans were enslaved in the Islamic world than all the Black slaves who were ever sent to North America. Where is our residual effects from that far more brutal slave system than what Blacks dealt with here? So, cry me a river when you talk about slavery; I'll just roll my eyes.

He confirmed much of what many Black Americans in Baltimore have long known.

The Police :

No. It was the 1960's. Technically you could say blacks were allowed to vote in 1870 but senators had poor Blacks do a poll tax or literacy test before voting.

Many Blacks were poor so the literacy tests and poll tax kept many poor blacks and poor whites from voting. The 1965 voting rights act outlawed poll tax and literacy tests. It's what Medgar Evers, Freedom Summer, Selma and those fire hoses were mainly about – the right to vote.

That is a non-answer. You claim that Jews are White, right? Yet, we get the Holocaust shoved in our faces just as much—if not more—than Slavery and Jim Crow. What happened to the Jews during WWII is not unique to the Jews, not even during the very same time period. There was 20 million innocent Chinese killed by the Japanese, 28 million Russians, a few years earlier a Jew named Genrikh Yagoda killed 10 million Christians in Ukraine—nobody knows his name. Yet, only what happened to the Jews is ever referred to as “The Holocaust.” They want a monopoly on Holocaust in the same way Blacks want a monopoly on slavery. He went to a doctor who gave him pills to turn his skin brown. He shaved the hair off but dressed, acted and talked the same.

After one week as a black man he was done.

He was going to do it for about 4 months visiting different parts of the country.

This is 1995 not 1955. This is in everyone's lifetime.

By his 2nd day as a he was in tears.

As a white man when he looked and smiled at White people. They smiled back. But as a Black man ? Whites look away, lock their doors, assume he's dangerous or up to no good.

The police would stop him. Restaurants would tell him they were full even when they weren't. He met a homeless white man who didn't have a biscuit and even he looked down on blacks.

And you know what's funny ?

What he dealt was easiest part of racism. He didn't even get into the systematic part.

Real racism is when you can deny people jobs, housing, health care, decent educations, or their physical freedom via the justice system, thereby wrecking their lives. And this once tough talking white man did not experience any of that.

This is why I laugh when white people like to come with any shaming tactics (Stop whining) tactics because white people you can't handle racism for a minute.

And even worse this coming from you white people cry at even 1% of oppression. This coming from a race of people who were getting out on the streets a few months bk crying at not being able to get a hair cut or play golf

The poll taxes and literacy tests were a very good thing. As Thomas Jefferson once said, “A people who expects to be ignorant and free expects what never was and what never can be.” So, rather than save money and rather than learning how to read, they just rioted, and well-meaning White people, again infantizing Blacks, gave in on the issue.
How important would voting rights be if they couldn’t even save enough to pay the poll taxes like EVERYBODY ELSE had to or learn to read well enough to pass a simple reading test—to prove they understood what they were voting on—LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE HAD TO. There were poor white and illiterate Whites who were not able to vote for the VERY SAME REASON. The same issue is happening today with Voter ID. The claim is that this is some underhanded way to prevent Blacks from voting, which is absurd because anybody with an ID will be able to vote (black, White, Asian, Hispanic, etc..) And anybody without an ID will not ) Black White, Asian, Hispanic, etc..

If you have a system with profoundly unstandardized schools, profoundly unstandardized financial resources, profoundly unstandardized teaching training, profoundly unstandardized curriculum.

And then you give the ppl what ? A standardized test

And then ppl act shocked when at the end of an unstandardized process all the ppl coming through don't do equally as well.

Tell us how good you felt after you voted for the guy who said he didn't want his kids growing up in a "racial jungle" with people like you.

And again, you make a big deal about your admiration for Dessalines; a man who decided that Slavery was a pretty good thing and ended up being Killed by his own people less than 2 years later.

Just because a man DOES GOOD that doesn't mean HE IS GOOD.

I'm not here to argue or debate if Dessalines was or wasn't a nice guy.

The fact is he killed many white supremacists. He slaughtered the French. He slaughtered the Brits. He slaughtered the Spanish. And Haiti was the first slave colony to gain independence. He done good.

That's what is important to me.

And that's the fault of white people or should I say the white supremacists.

You need a whole system to achieve. Because that system has allowed most white communities outside of metro Detroit to thrive, leaving black communities to crumble through years of neglect and discriminatory practices and policies.

You talk about segregation you already have it and Detroit is a prime example of that. Even today, Black Detroitans are still being marginalized into poverty and barely recovering from years of social and economic oppression.

The city itself is still being allowed to crumble so wealthy, white investors can come in and buy up cheap property to sell off to potentially wealthy and middle class, mostly white homeowners and tenants, which causes everything in the city to become much more expensive and push poorer, black residents out - something called gentrification dude,

The city’s schools are largely underfunded and neglected by the state compared to schools in areas that are majority white. Police brutality and racial bias are prevalent in Detroit too. Racial tension also exists on both sides. The systemic racism that exists in Detroit is overwhelming anti-black.

This isn’t exclusive to Detroit either, we notice similar patterns in other majority black cities like Chicago, parts of Atlanta, Baltimore etc

The decline of Detroit is the fault of white people and the decline of the American auto industry. It became home to all three of America's major auto manufacturers. Those white companies dominated the city's economy. The city grew and expanded to accommodate that expansive economy.

Then, starting in the sixties and seventies, the white US companies started losing market share to foreign manufacturers. Then they started relocating plants to other states.

White people did that. Your people

The decline has been going on for decades so now the city no longer has a sufficient economic base to support itself.

Fewer manufacturing jobs means less tax revenue, that means fewer teachers, police officers and firefighters. Crime rises, education declines. People who can afford to leave, do so, leaving behind a population with high poverty and low education.

High crime and a bad economy means that no one wants to start a business there. People who do have businesses tend to leave if they can. That makes the economy suffer even more, which means even worse public services, and so on. It's a death spiral that's almost impossible to pull out of, and for many reasons
