The US was founded by Puritans, and that Puritan morality runs strong and deep in the US. Because this is a patriarchal society, women bear the brunt of that Puritan ethic. Women are routinely slut shamed in North America. Look at the slut shaming of the woman who stood up and asked that her birth control be covered by her student medical plan. She did nothing but ask, on behalf of fellow students, that the school provide them with birth control coverage, as is required by law.

It was disgusting to watch.

I think the disgust with Fluke or whatever her name was, is she was attending a Ivy League University, which isn't cheap, and she was basically demanding that the American Taxpayer pay her, who was from a relatively wealthy family, for her birth control. It was, and still is, a ridiculous demand.

Yeah...............when we measure up against France, we are prudes. France has nude women in the magazines, bare breasts on television, and all beaches are top optional.

Where in America, other than in very specific areas, can a woman go topless when she's at the beach? In France, it's EVERY beach.

And no, people don't freak out about the possibility of a 13 year old boy seeing breasts.
