Obama did not set the deadline in Iraq so you are wrong about that. Bush did. And Afghanistan is not worse compared to 2008 when Taliban controlled much of the populated areas where government forces had no presence. Now with 300,000 Afghan Security Forces in control of nearly all of those areas the Taliban have lost the momentum they enjoyed from 2003 to 2010. The momentum Bush allowed them to have.

Those deadlines Obama set are the key factor in achieving mission success. They fired the Afghan people that oppose Taliban rule to take the lead in the fight and they have done so.
