Since illegal immigration is a problem in this country and illegal immigrants comprise a large portion of the populace, it is a demographic that is pertinent to the mission of the census. Second and most important is non-citizens cannot LEGALLY vote, so the charge that it affects voter rights is pure partisan bullshit

The census asks those questions to determine congressional apportionment. The democrats want to be able to count illegals so that they can obtain more seats in congress. Congressional seats should not be apportioned for illegal residents of the US.
