Competency Doesn't Mean White!

Nor does merit. This whole DEI argument is based on the claim that competency and merit are passed ver because of color. Competency and merit do not mean white. Everybody white is not always the best qualified. It's never been that way even when whites were allowed to exclude us who were not white by law. The only reason why so many fields are dominated by whites today is due to the exclusion in the past, not superior white competence or merit. This current administration is just another example of 249 years of unqualified whites, specifically white men, who have been put in high offices over far more qualified people of color.

Donald Trump's war on DEI is not about "merit"

Executive orders attacking DEI are about promoting unqualified white men over diverse candidates

onald Trump lies about everything, but the lies strewn throughout his executive order shutting down diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI, policies in the federal government are especially taxing on one's credulity. Efforts to improve diversity, the order reads, "deny, discredit, and undermine the traditional American values of hard work, excellence, and individual achievement." This paean to the importance of "excellence" and "hard work" comes from a man who, a mere five years ago, looked a row of medical researchers and doctors in the eye and suggested he understood science better than they did, despite having not studied it for a day of his life. He then theorized that Lysol and bleach be used to treat COVID-19 patients "by injection inside, or almost a cleaning, because, you see, it gets in the lungs," aware of the basic scientific principle that painting your lungs with poisonous substances will kill you.

The new executive order insists that recruiting diverse applicants is "diminishing the importance of individual merit, aptitude, hard work, and determination." It was signed by a man who has nominated Pete Hegseth, an understudy Fox News host, to run the Department of Defense. Hegseth's only prior administrative experience comes from running two small-time charities into the ground, resulting in his removal from leadership. This ode to the value of skills and knowledge comes from the same half-literate president who also nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to run Health and Human Services, even though Kennedy claims cognitive decline from a brain worm and also refuses to accept the overwhelming scientific evidence showing that vaccines are safe and effective. The only reason the alleged testament to "merit" is even readable is because someone other than Trump wrote it. The "merit"-loving president famously can't get through a 240-character social media post without multiple grammatical errors and misspellings.

All three of these men embody the concept of incompetence, but they are white, straight and male. When Trump or any MAGA devotee is talking about "merit" or "excellence," that is what they mean: whiteness, straightness and maleness.

And the more incompetent or ignorant the straight white man is, the more he is held out as the exemplar of "merit" in MAGA-speak. For all the talk about opposition to discrimination and belief in a "colorblind" society, the actions of MAGA show that their true goal is reserving better jobs and opportunities for straight white men, while relegating women, LGBTQ folks and people of color to underpaid and lower-status employment.

I don't recall anyone saying it was, and I agree, competency doesn't have a color. We can agree on this.

Now, if a company said it was their policy to make sure that at least 50% of their employees were white, and they had to make sure that goal was achieved through their hiring practices, what would you call that?

White people are not being rejected for being white.

If a company says "we can't hire you because our policy is to make sure at least 50% of our company is white", what would you say to that?

“You may be a better candidate for this opening, but we don’t place a lot of value on things like who is more qualified for a position. We are woke. So, we won’t even consider you because you don’t fit our diversity quota.”

It’s very much the same thing as saying that you can’t be hired because your skin color or race is not the one we need to project our vision of equity etc.

It’s the same old story: if you hire X on the basis of race, you are declining to hire Y on the basis of race. And yet our libturds insist that it’s not “racist.” 🙄

Where is DEI in nursing or hairdressers. Idiotic questions. It's never been needed there. They welcome diversity.
You also have said,”I hate it when they point out how hypocritical Progressives are!”

I agree with everything you say here.

A point on connections and on Asian Americans. One of the jobs I got was because an Asian-American female I had mentored earlier in her career was at a company that had an opening. That put my resume at the top of the pile. (And this was during the worst of Covid). Now, obviously, my experience spoke for itself, and my resume is well-written (I have a resume writing business as a side gig), and I did very well in the interview, but I doubt I would have gotten his job without her singing my praises.

A second point I would make that IM2 likes to ignore is that despite racism being a fact of life in America, Asian-Americans do very well, in many cases outperforming white people. The young lady I mentioned never worked in our field before. Today, she's a senior sourcing manager. So instead of complaining about how white people did them dirty (which we did, mea culpa), look at what Asian-Americans and a lot of Hispanic Americans are doing to promote themselves and succeed.
Hispanic isn't a race, although many white Americans believe it is.

No one is inherently evil. Some , not all , have problems. Everyone , even within groups , is different. Our similarities are greater than our differences , that should unite US to do better. Negative thinking seems to be winning right now , it won't last. Truth always matters.
The truth is; we’ve become a nation we were never meant to be, we’ve become comprised of people who don’t belong, people who invaded…The demography has changed by political design and against the will of the people…As a result, the worst is yet to come.

Well brown people are considered Hispanic, Latin, mixture of euro/indigenous people of the Americas. You notice that the power in some central america/south america seems to be white. The Mexican President today seems to fit that. Trust people until you do not.

DEI is another democrat vote buying scheme. How else can you get one group of people voting 93% democrat in every election for the past fifty years. It’s almost as if that group can’t think for themselves.

There are many white Hispanics.

Even more that believe, and identify, as white.

That was my point.

2018, I worked for a company as a contractor. During the short time I was a contractor there, I fixed their internal company transfer system and documented procedures to make them ISO 9000 compliant.

A job came open, and they hired a black woman with five years less experience than me. When she got to the job, she couldn't keep up with the work and was unable to learn basic processes. She spent about half her day shopping on Amazon.

2002- I was on another contract job. Instead of bringing me on full-time, they hired a Chinese national (female). You know, over a White American Veteran.

1994 - Despite having more seniority at the company, they promoted a white female to a supervisor position despite my being with the company longer and having actual supervisory experience from the Army. (I eventually got a supervisory position at this company, and this woman eventually quit.)

And these are the ones I KNOW about because, hey, I was actually on site and saw it happen. I couldn't tell you how many jobs I applied for, and I have no idea who got the job.

Please don't tell me AA or DEI doesn't result in more qualified white males losing out to less qualified minority and female candidates.

Now, that said, I know I've gotten opportunities through my connections, and being a Veteran has given me a leg up in more than a few job interviews.
Do you have multiple personality disorder or has someone hijacked your account?

True. The propaganda has worked because of racism. Nobody is being given special treatment.
If someone is hired due to the race, gender or sexuality then they are getting special treatment

no, I'm just not a mindless robot like you are.

So go listen to Rush, he's going to tell you what to think.

Oh, wait, he's taking a dirt nap.
I could have sworn you professed support for DEI and AA in the past.

And that's why I worded it the way I did.

And that’s why I was agreeing with you. 👍
And that's why I'm giving you a thumbs up!

Competency Doesn't Mean White!

Gotta hand it to my best pal, IM2 there, he started a thread there with a thought my white azz has never had. I'm sure he has the best of intentions. I'm sure his OP is gonna clear all this up. (Full transparency IM2 has not replied to me for a long time. Maybe we'll test that right now.)

This whole DEI argument is based on the claim that competency and merit are passed ver because of color.

Well, that's stupid but then that's DEI's argument, as you just told us to start out your OP.

Masterful.

When I play at electrician, IM2, does my skin color or my competency tell me which wire is hot?

If a white guy tells me it's dead I test it.

If a black guy tells me it's dead I test it.

If one gets it correct and the other doesn't I'm hiring the guy that got it correct. Where does color come into this? Rhetorical question: It doesn't. Yet here you are telling me, the guy on the other end of the wire to just fu(kin take at anyone's word that the wire is dead, because of that guys color.

To refresh you've called me racist. You've called me white boy so I called you black boy in return. I enjoy typing at you even more so cause when I do you flee before me. This is ongoing, IM2, whether you admit it or not.

So much to do and say but, IM2, do you believe that I, Marchimedes, being white have unconscious racism?

Pretty fu(kin easy one as you don't know me to say no to. Or at least I don't know.

IM2, Marchimedes here, it doesn't work. Because I'm white doesn't mean that I hate you cause you are black. I hate you cause you are a fu(kin retard.

What if I started a thread...

"Incompetency doesn't mean black."
