2 weeks ago or so I was up earlier than usual, fresh air on my deck with coffee

looked to the east and a bright star that did not seem to belong

then it started to fall and went poof then another in the same spot....what?

this went on 7 times or so

Co-pilot..... was that starlink dropping some odd sats?

nope that was a big meteor from the lyrids that broke up and those were the chunks, a train

during this just to the west a huge flash like and atomic bomb, it was a bolide airburst

that was a big one that got so hot it exploded and it was really bright......wow two events in a matter of 5 minutes

doubt I will ever get the chance to see that one again, small window, right timing

Cool, you caught the Lyrids under ideal conditions when the radiant was just above the horizon and caught a few chunks that probably began as one big piece of some comet and broke apart into a chain that comes in now one piece after the other.

Those are the best.

My best shower was one year watching the Leonids when they were flying all over the sky. The radiant was low in the east and they were both dropping down from it as well as seen streaking everywhere across the sky, but if you are lucky enough, the rare, rogue meteor can be great as well; I've seen bolides that light up the sky and cast shadows on the ground as well as meteors which make noise, sort of sizzle or pop, then once I even saw one that gave off a green trail behind it as it flew across the sky.
